Well with the AC10/PPC and 4xMedLasers you get 40 pts damage output, but does it have the heatsinks to cope with that? With the AC5/AC10 Variant you could make a respectable rifleman out of it. Upgrade the 4 med lasers to two large lasers and downgrade the AC10 to two UAC5's and oh my you have a more heavily armored jumping version of a Rifleman. I want me one of those.

Our variant doesn't mount jump jets. :P

Awesome! ...No wait, Catphract.
So much better than the old design. Keep up the good work!

The Cataphract was once a shambling mound of parts borrowed from other designs and assembled because they did not have a factory that could produce a complete Mech of that size anymore... The original design was stupid looking and only somewhat effective, but the redesign looks great and seems like it might be viable. Well done team.

Love this addition. And I really love that y'all had the presence of mind to put on Waco Rangers patch and a x'd out wolf's dragoons pilot insignia (to represent that bitter rivalry).

That got me thinking. Is there any actual Davion mech worth using in this era (I mean popular)?
Everything from 30th century and older + everything 3050 and up doesn't count. :P

Didn't he Jaegermech score suprisingly high in the recent (forum user made) poll on heavies? Theres the Rifleman too. And Victor, Dervish (winner of Garth's medium poll) and Enforcer. Blackjack is worth a mention too, in particular the BJ-1DB with 2xLLAS/2xMLAS. The Davion signature lights (Javelin and Valkyrie) are on the slow side, but nothing that 'mechlab can't fix.

Wolfhound is half Davion 'mech too. No doubts on it's popularity. Oh and Devastator.

Of course they do. Lacking sufficent Davionist designs of their own, the Fedrat naturally gravitates to whatever he can scavenge from fallen Capellans. (After all, they stole the Cataphract AND tons of Ravens...) :P

Soooooo what did we use to conquer all those Mech factories then ? A Dropship full of toy guns ? That'd say something about capellan bravery ^_^

really nice done! i didn't like the original design of this mech as many others, but the artwork looks hands down great! though, i would appreciate ingame screenshots, because thats what you will see all the time.

and for the record: skip that ACs, i don't like ballistics. the PPC and perhaps a LL would be way nicer. *needs to toy with this mech in the lab*

You'e right, but because of the gameplay issues, all rear mounted weapons got moved to the front. Just look at the art of Cataphract, or Dragon. ;)

Mad props for "obscure" mechs! I'm pumped to see classics from the MW PC franchise returning for more campaigns and new ones (classics for table top players) being introduced right beside them...

Axman. AC/20 and Hatchet (before the nerf to them) was a terrifying combo pack. Not to mention the Caesar. The Caesar is derived from the CTF though.

Some of the FS field variants are good. The FS CTF is junk... but some of the others are good. Later on though the seem to get almost all of the really good mechs in cannon.

"A cataphract was a form of armored heavy cavalry utilised in ancient warfare by a number of peoples in Western Eurasia and the Eurasian Steppe."

Name makes perfect sense to me. Seeing that this is a heavy mech.[/color]
