Played a series of games where 4 or more ravens on one side was common.

takes 4 other mechs (without SSRM's and ECM) to fight 1 raven over a span of 4 minutes, and ultimately lose.

leading the target seems to do very little as hit indicators don't work against the raven.

when making direct frontal damage to a raven, it registers the hit as a "rear" hit, damaging rear armor.... when armor is stripped from behind, it reads as frontal damage.... also, when frontal damage is read, paperdoll will blink with damage, but no visible damage was done. Once all rear armor has been stripped (by LRM's or SSRMs) core remains intact as rear attacks now damage frontal armor...

why is this mech so spectacularly broken??? It wasn't like this in November, PGI what did you do??

EDIT: I know right, I;ve actually noticed something else. When playing my raven (XL engine) I encounter all these problems (good for me, bad for the game)... but it only happens with the XL engine... when I use my recently purchased raven (with Std Engine) the invulnerable aspects seem to stop, and I am able to die just like any other light (Im going the same 97KPH in both, using the 210, one XL, one standard)

I think the main cause of the hit detection and the raven can be traced to the use of an XL engine

um, Ive been cored rather spectacularly in my Raven several times. Jenners are WAY more difficult to off IMHO.

lol, cool story bro, you should tell it at parties.

simply throwing down my constant observation of the mechs hit box behavior. it's bugged, obviously.

I think you may be exaggerating slightly, but there is no doubt that the Raven's hitboxes are completely messed up.

I can kill Jenners and Commandos with few problems if they're standing still. The Raven is another story.

I really wish we had the ability to set up private matches so that we could test this stuff better. Try and find some sort of link to when and why it happens. I chimed in on the other thread about problems I have had killing them, though last night I scored a hit with 3 x srm6 and its leg was gone.

Well the 3L Ravens and 2D Commandos are taking advantage of netcode problems, Streak SRM-2s unerring accuracy and ECM (that may or may not be overpowered, honestly still trying to decide for myself) in a sort of perfect storm of cheese. (Not related to or affiliated with The Cheese that I know of) Now some of them are taking advantage of other methods that make determining their actual positions all but impossible. The murder of Ravens and Commando death squads running about in many games is nothing more than players who cannot cope with actually being skillful with their 'Mechs. My hats off to the good Raven and Commando players who would still rip me up without ECM or Streaks.

The 'Mechs themselves are not actually broken, it is a pity you do not see more stock ones as a good metric to judge the modified versions against. Seriously the stock RVN-3L is a just average at best, it might be better if Narc need not be LoS.

3x UAC5 seem to eat ravens nicely. Lasers on the other hand do seem to have a much harder time.

i think the problem is with netcode mostly]

but also because of the raven's CT hitbox is relatively small. Aim for the crotch!

My recent Raven debacle was in River City and it took 5 of us to kill the one Raven while the 3 remaining teammates destroyed the remaining 6 (1 AFK) opponents. Was silly and obviously we were challenging a terrible team but the one Raven stood long and danced about while we five pounded it like fresh tail in prison.

Well, the OP is right on one issue regarding the hit detection and application of damage. I have, on several cases, been hit straight on from the front and had the damage go to my rear armor. It is really beyond me why this happens. Its mostly an issue with LRMs which seem to have the Kennedy "magic bullet" thing going on and, in that vein, LRMs are still going through terrain.

If you can't kill a Raven going 97lph, it's not a netcode issue. One going 130 to 150 I can see, but under 100 kph mechs don't have the same lagshield as the uber fast ones. And even the fully tricked out 3L or 2D is still a 2 shot kill if you leg them anyway.

i've had to lead a catapult by just shy of a mech length using lasers. a catapult's mech length.
i've also had to lead dragons before, usually only by about half a mech width or so

Remember kids, Lag shield is not limited to the raven. Lag shield can be on any mech. I've run in to atlases going 48 with a lag shield. Its called Lag shield for a reason... its caused by LAG. Any forced shut down mech can also get a displacement shield as well. Its the same thing thats happened for some time, PGI is fixing it... HAHA!!! seriously, bring your reading comprehension abilities next time.

I'm not talking about lag shield, im talking about hit boxes, and the events to why I bring it up... lol lag shield?? did even say that in the OP?? no, no i didn't hahahaha, can you read man?? do you need help??? lol

on that note, lag shield is the least of my concern when Damage isnt registering correctly throughout the entire mech.
