Oh wow...never thought we'd reach this level lol.
It's F5. It can be changed in the game options. There is also an option to "start in third person", you need to untick it if you want to start in the cockpit.

Have you checked the Keybindings?
(The menu is under the gear icon in the corner in the mechlab)
If the buttons there do not work - change them, then report it to Support.

Is it still possible to set the FOV like before? I don't see a user.cfg for inserting cl_fov = xy.
I only see system.cfg (empty) and systemoverride.cfg both protected from changes.
Is it still possible to change FOV with a brand new installation without possibilty to get the old user.cfg to copy to the new client?
Please help it's horrible to be so near to the cockpit glass and I totally love to look around in my cockpit with "free-look". I always had it set to 79 and it was great...

I had assumed you would get fish eye by turning it any higher than default.

You can just create a new text file with the cl_fov= line in it and name it user.cfg, putting it in the MWO folder. It will still change the fov.

Do i just put it in the main MWO folder or is there a location i should have it in? Because I have made a new text file and still nothing changes for me.

I'm not a great pilot, despite reaching number 5 in the Centurion chassis tourney. What is important to me though is not turning off as many graphics settings as I can to get an advantage over my opponent, it's about simply enjoying the game. To enjoy a game like this I need some kind of immersion and this FoV change gives me just that.
