Guys, the very first stop on this task should be to download Notepad++. The reason being that it can edit and save cfg files without any hassle, something that is not guaranteed with the windows editor.

Next up, the location where the user.cfg needs to go is "[install directory]\Piranha Games\MechWarrior Online" If you see a file called "system.cfg", that means you're in the right place. (Note that if you follow the shortcut on your desktop, it will lead you to the "Bin32" or "Bin64" folder within that directory. You'll have to go one folder up to reach the place you want to be)

If you don't see a "user.cfg" file, create a new text document and open it with Notepad++. Paste in the FOV value you want then select "Save as...". In the dropdown menu for which file ending you want, scroll up a little to reveal the top option "any (*.*)". Type in "user.cfg" (without quotes) and the text will be saved as a config file. Feel free to delete the text document now, you won't need that any more.

It made it REALLY hard to find my screenshots.

So I'm guessing running the MWO repair tool won't change anything? Because the dx11 file is gone I can't use dx11.

If this config did nothing else... It made the Phoenix Locust-1V tolerable. For that, I thank you.

I can't tell the difference of the two images posted on the OP besides the fact that it looks like the camera is put further pack and/or lower =l

It olny appears to be further back because you get a wider field of view. If you thought it would bring any graphical improvements, then I'll have to dissapoint you.

I am more on the lines of wondering what's the problem with the current and how does the new one improve anything.

I like actually seeing the cockpit, makes me feel like I'm actually inside the 'Mech rather than looking through some camera mounted several inces away from the pilot's face. If you don't like it, don't use it. It's primarily a cosmetic change after all.

It's not that I don't like it or anything, But I think the scaling in MW: O in the first place is screwy... like moving your camera a bit back will not make it in pilots view... but instead the seats view.

For eg THAT's the pilot ejecting from a hunchback. He will be lucky if he has his shoulders ,arms, and legs when he gets out.

Note: think of the light mechs cockpit...

The person that was doing these images stated it's nearly impossible for him to put a pilot in some light mechs as they are to small and cramped.

Edit: also another problem that some mechs atm are good (for it's size and cockpit layout) while others are bad. If I modify the game files to change it I fix some views while break the others.

The ckopits on the player-controlled model have been largely resized for a more spacious feel. Also, you seem to miss that the FoV changes nothing with the camera position, it just removes the awkward tunnel vision.

Also, what exactly are you trying to show me with the models? that the cockpits aren't to scale is already a known fact (also that the ckockpits still don't have a back wall as far as I know...)

Would a reinstall fix this problem? The problem being all my MWO files are split between two places and I can only find one? Like if I go to computer in windows explorer (windows 7) and search "mechwarrior online" it will bring up one folder, and when I open it, it has all my USER files there, such as profiles and screenshots. Bit the problem is that I can't find the other half. I also think my dx11 folder is missing because I cannot use dx11. ( it keeps automaticly switching to dx9.
Any help is appreciated!

The Folder USER is located inside the main game folder. I even checked in Documents to make sure, but the game creates no secondary directories. Everything is kept within one folder (and it's respective sub-folders).

I know that, but mine are split up into two, with the dx11 folder missing.

Do you think running the repair tool or reinstalling the game would help anything?

I fail to see what the Dx11 folder has got to do with anything here. if you want to edit/create the user.cfg, you have to do that in the main folder.

I also don't have a Dx11 folder due to my graphics crad not supporting Dx11 so there's that as well.

If you'd read carefully, you'd already be done.

Default Location is C:\Program Files (x86), user.cfg highlighted for convenience. If you don't have one, you can simply create a new file using Notepad++.

So just to clarify I type that C:\Program Files (x86) into the bar on top, and just look for the MWO file. Correct?

And it also may be, like you, that my graphics card does not support dx11. Oh well. As soon as I am able to I will do what you said, and hopefully it will work.

(BTW I have been on my phone while having this conversation so I have not yet had a chance to do it.)

Did this: opened npp, made a new file, called it user.cfg, made it all types, put cl_fov = 79 and saved it, dragged it into the MWO folder. Hopefully it works now.
