So for the last 3-4 weeks i've been playing with constent 70-90ms numbers.

Today its 275-400. Anyone know whats changed? Somehow I doubt Comcast's connectivity has had any major changes, and other games (BF3 to various servers, GW2, etc) seem uneffected.

Anyone else noticing this?

I was getting pretty crappy ping for the last few days.. I was trying to figure if it was just excess server traffic for the holidays or something to do with the new gaming mouse I got (I suddenly got some minor sound issues that coincide with my new mouse so...)

For me the issue is random, I don't think anything is intentional.

A couple of our guy's that use comcast, had some issues last night with Teamspeak services as well, kept dropping the connection, while the rest of us were fine.

May or may not be related, but it was definitely only comcast subscribers.
Could be a bad hop somewhere along the route i guess.

Its pretty random for me. Some matches I will have below 100....then the next match it will be over 300.

probably people leeching on your wireless ;)

if I have a high ping I always check if it's me by starting CMD and type: "ping google.com" (enter), if it's low it's beyond my control, if it's high I have to see if someone in the house is torrenting.

hrm. I have comcast and have been lagging completely out the last few games I tried. Never happened before. Very irritating.

Yesterday a small patch was introduced. my personal take on it better pings for the most part some still suffer. latency has been improved , along with hit boxes especially small mechs. drive a raven and you will see a dereference in hit boxes which also may apply to other small mechs . Game stability has been improved with some fixes long overdue. But overall fantastic changes. it shows that with the right tools to look at serverst did not take to long to help. they will do more fine toning in the near future.

By your name I guess you're House Steiner. Well I'm sorry to inform you, but there is currently and interdict in place. ComStar will not tolerate your actions against the peace in this galaxy any longer. ;)

Go and kill a raven and then make a comment. the bigger the patch does not always mean the bigger the changes. like other things that some houses might lack.

As far as pings go, ping time measures your latency to the server. The main thing that affects latency is usually network congestion. When you're talking over the Internet the congestion occurs almost always at either one end or the other, not in the middle, because the middle is extremely high capacity redundant backbone carrier links and/or the internal networks of service providers.

Given the above, and the lack of widespread complaints about MWO servers, I'd say it's probably on your local side, either your local Comcast network (too many people in your neighborhood watching Netflix) or it's your private connection (too many people in your house watching Netflix).

Edit: I missed the fact that you have compared connectivity to other services. Do you know what actual ping values are for the services or are they just "working fine"? You are correct in assuming that some services working fine and others not working point to a service-side problem source. (/edit)

Of course there are many other things that could cause a latency issue, but far and away the most likely scenario is what I described. Call your service provider if the problem persists.

Now, regarding this post:

Do you have ANY references for this? "Seems like things are better" reeks of a purely ******** report.
