The most fun thing for me to shoot in video games is people. A game with good animations or scream effects (setting children on fire in Black and White, for instance) really shoots endorphins through me.

The article seems to imply a definitive answer to why shooting mechs is best, instead of stating that this is simply something true of the people who enjoy mech games. Everyone has different ways of enjoying different entertainment outlets.

Awesome review, great press for the game - hopefully they fix the net code so aiming for specific sections is always possible

Great article... yes... been a Mechwarrior is akin to playing chess, piloting a tank AND been a boxer, all at once.

It's why for all the faults, this game is nonetheless great.

Yeah, I do like the attrition feel of Mechwarrior. Also glad to see PCGamer still pumping out the MWO press.

It should be true of almost any player of any FPS. I would gather that most would love a more indepth damage model in bf3 pr arma or CoD or any other military shooter (the shooters that say they "try" to be realistic in a sense anyways), IE legs and arms can take dmg, too much dmg in an arm and you can't fire your m-16 as well anymore etc etc...

Arena / fast / arcade shooters its not so much a thing to have more than head + body.

That is what I think the article is trying to get across. MWO mechs have the most in-depth damage mechanics of any FPS out there. (in regards to the whole body being modeled and effects happening because of it) Hence is the most fun thing to shoot at.

Some tank games are similar in that you can knock out components etc, but those generally happen instantly, MWO is different in that regard...

What attracts me to MechWarrior is the non-gory strategy, chess like destructive nature it has.

You mean having a M203 Grenade Launcher shell *roll* over your foot as a kill shot isn't in depth and fun? Or having someone AWP you in the foot for a one shot kill?

/end funny moments in fps gaming.

MechWarrior Online deserves all of the fame that crappy Hawken is getting (why would you pilot a freaking microwave on legs??????????).
