Took me several tries, but I did it ;)

I think I still have that Crescent Hawks pin somewhere, too...

Of course we did, it was the only way to get that mech. You had to use it at the right training excercise to be able to use it later in the game.

Man it's been soooo long a-go since I played that game I can't remember. I do remember telling my mom she was dead to me for throwing the game away when I was in the service LOL. (I forgave her :-) )

I just jumped/ran away, I could never (even lucky shots) ever beat the 4 jenners. BTW, did anyone ever randomly salvage an urbanmech?

As soon as a buddy said "Hey, you know you can..." I was booting it back up on the old Amiga. Fun times.

yep the trick I found to make it easier to salvage... was to end up running away through the compound if you went the other way the jenners would chase you down and blow up the mech before you could get away.

the urby was easy to get if you used it in the arena duel

as I remember it the best armor in the game was the heavy environmental suit, and the best anti personel weapon was either the srm launcher, or the inferno launcher

I also remember using le old fashoned hex editor to do things like manually giving the chamelon more armor, or more internal... upping the internal was only moderately effective yes it meant the mech would survive getting its internal damaged for longer the problem was that it would then start taking crits to the equipment which was difficult to impossible to fix

You never got all your skills to excellent before the attack? There was a way to do it before the attack, but it escaptes me now.

Well you couldn't do that for Medical or Technical, but everything else you had to attend "school" or fail at your training excerise in regards to piloting the the Mechs.

*sings the chorus to "The Gambler" to self* It took me several tries, but I got the Chameleon out intact. I just had to learn when to swallow my pride and redeploy to the rear

Chameleon was the only way to go :3

Always just had to bail through the buildings and line of sight them - such good times, so many memories there... Katrina Sterling! First game fan crush.

That star cache was such a puzzle the first time through.

How many of you stole one of the rental mechs for the battle arena?

I am not sure if I remember correctly, but couldn't you steal an Urbie?
