Quick questions:
Is there any way to inspect or see your teammates build or load out? I think it would be helpful to know if they are brawler vs long ranger.
Is there a compilation of popular mecbuilds? A website or even a mechbay app would be awesome to play with.

Currently if you hold down the 'alt' key (I think), you can view what mech/variant your teammates have and what overall percentage of damage they have, but no, there is no way to see details.
The Battlemechs forum section has plenty of builds. For a mechbuilder, use: http://mwo.smurfy-net.de/

It's usually The Q key, although this doesn't work so well if you get ECM jammed.
This is where knowledge plays a factor in the game. If you know the possible loadouts of a variant (1 ballistic, 1 energy, 2 missile), you can make an educated guess as to what systems he's using, and use your teammate accordingly, without having to speak a word to them.

You can die quickly then observe your allies cockpits and cringe at what their builds are.
