This game will also have 3rd person view. Not sure what your point is.

You can easily implement systems that prevent respawning abuse. Repair bays are one way, so that those that survive the fight can go back. You can also reward the people for staying alive longer by giving them added rewards for killstreaks, damage, captures, etc that they get after their first kill or whatever.

You can also have a ticket system where if people are suiciding then their team will lose faster than the other team.

If this game has maps the size of the ones I have seen in MW:LL... 20x20km, then there will be little reason to suicide if it takes you minutes to get back into the fight. You can also have multiple objectives so that people are fighting all over the map. This also negates a lot of the short range brawling... though you can have sections of the 20x20 map that are made up of caves and ravines to give short range people a place to fight if they want.

Respawns make people less afraid, yes... but I don't see people suicide in WW2OL where it also takes people minutes or more to get back into the fight. Nor do I see them suiciding in BF3. So what is your point? Even if they were... their team would be penalized and they would make far less.

You can also institute a timer on Mechs based on their tonnage which has been suggested before. If the devs are smart there a tons of ways to mitigate all the problems you have with a MW:LL-like system.

Finally: The current matchmaking system won't go away... instead it would be used for leaderboards and clan matches like LoL or other competative games. You can give out special prizes to winners... Unique skins... colors... even Mech chassis.

And I seriously hope devs will reconsider enabling 3rd person view, as it would be superior to cockpit view by all possible means (for those who can't guess why: better map and surrounding awareness).

So I hope you can see that putting respawns right now is actually a bad idea as:

1. Maps are rather small, LL offers bigger maps that are suitable for allowing respawns.
2. There's no repair bay system
3. it would make some builds insanely powerful (AC20 cat with unlimited ammo)
4. Dakka-based boats wouldn't be forced to care of their supplies.
5. Maybe it's my own impression, but in pug matches a lot of people play like they would have a death wish (even now, without any respawns).

I like idea of tonnage affecting respawns tho.

It's probably just my wishful thinking but a lobby system would solve a lot of problems. Like getting rid of people who try to sync drop to fight against each other, or people who think something is broken and they want to be allowed to play without it (so they would be able to host no ECM/no Lights/No Streaks/no Pubs/no Premades/no Paul/no [xxx ruined MWO] rooms. And yeah I'm pretty much aware the lobby system might be abused by players especially in "grind to afford stuff" game.

I say put in a respawn mode and see how many people play it... I bet they keep it due to it's popularity. Also, while we are at it, add a HARDCORE TABLE TOP MODE so all the TT people can go back to no fun. Make it 100% TT no nerfs or buffs. 1 shot every 10 sec. Mech can only move 50km every min, and when you fire a dice roll appears to let you know if you get a hit, miss, or crit... Sounds Fun right????

I would like to see the dropship mode that they were talking about in closed beta. Would make assault much less of a deathmatch and they could focus on rewarding actual cap strategies instead of just brawls.

The OP wants tactics in the game. 70% of the games are made up of PUG players... which currently means little to no tactics other than blob up and focus fire. Which means that PUG players ARE the player base.

There currently is no time to really react to anything the enemy team brings to the fight. I can't switch to an ECM mech to counter a LRM heavy team like I could to counter a tank in Battlefield 3 by switching to Engineer or Support with C4.

Because you are stuck with what your PUG drops with there is little room to have actual tactics.

My PUG only K/D is probably better than yours. I want respawns because of the above reasons. You don't because you are an elitist with no valid reasons.

how about because respawns completely invalidate having limited missile/AC ammo?

No, a million times no....this is not the game for you sir, move on.

Dropship mode on the other hand, will allow you to drop with a limited number of mechs of your choice, but once ones dead, its dead, unless you have multiple chassis built similarly.

the only way i see respons is you pre select the order of mechs you drop in and drop

however to keep things from getting stacked i suggest making it completly pug and trial mechs only.

may the best pilot/team win
