I put in a 265XL, 4xLL and 1x UAC/5 for added punch in close, the rapid fire makes people duck back a little and the 4x LL are awesome.

Tried the 2xLL, 2xML, and 2xUAC5s and it was fun, but not as effective as I was seeing with 4xLL

This 4LL/1UAC build looks really nice... Must try. :)

Hi All,

I am primarily a hunch pilot, but have been considering working the Cat's once i finish my last few elites on my hunches (yes, i am still new to the game). I was considering a sniper Cat-K2 with 2 ERPPC and 2 AC/10, backed up by 2 ML in the arms for self defense. Not sure if this would work or not (cannot access smurfy's from work) and how effective it would be, but I can imagine the hide and shoot with 40 pts of damage at a decent range.

Thoughts? Thanks!

Xiang

Sounds nice but way too heavy.

40 Tons of weapons....i guess my eyes got crossed looking at the spreadsheet.....too bad, it would have been fun.

Thanks Redoxin!

I respectfully disagree, if I see 4 LL firing that enemy's position is very clear and will probably get focused down fast against a semi-organized team, not to mention the burn time which gives clear shots towards it's center torso.

I totally agree, which is why I found it amusing how much less attention I drew after switching to LL. Of course, I'm pugging and that'll make a difference.

Lasers or ballistics really comes down to player preference. I love ballistics, but with the firing issues with them, lasers are much easier to use. I suggest giving both a try and seeing which feels better for the individual, just give yourself a chance to learn to shoot the ballistics before tossing them out.

Well, 4x LL and 1x UAC5 was fun, as was 2 UAC5 (though I felt it didnt perform as well due to lack of range on the Mlas).

All in all I will end up keeping four different builds, and maybe a 5th when they buff PPCs

2x AC20 4x MLas
2x Gauss 2x MLas
4x LLas 1x UAC5
3x LL 1x Gauss (this worked well, good heat while rotating shots, barely any heat from Gauss, I found 2xLLas 1x Gauss not as effective as the added LL)

If they fix PPCs some more, I will play around with those more.

You can't do the ERPPC's in the Torso and the Medium Lasers in the Arms. It won't fit in the chasis with AC/10's as well. Not to mention that you need the space/slots for your XL engine. to allow for that wait to fit in the Catapult.

The ERPPC is terrible right now (as is the PPC actually). They haven't programmed the secondary effect which would make the PPC's useful when considering the heat. IE: the PPC does 10 damage at 9 heat where a Large Laser does 9 damage at 7 heat. ERPPC is even worse since it does 10 damage at 13 heat.

With the configuration when you lose PPC and ERPPC you lose the ability to add another dual heat sink which takes your sustained DPS way down to unacceptable levels.

The 4 large laser K2 build is superior to all other K2 builds at this point in the game.

4xLL is solid but i miss the 2 ballistics weapons.
machine gun for giggles? or 2 ac2 with couple of ammo.

That's 14 tons for 4 damage.... (re: 2 ac2 and a couple ammo)

I could put an UAC on one slot, but it bothers me to fit only one ballistic slot.

I know, it seemed pretty sacrilegious for me too...but then I tried 3x LL and a Gauss or 4x LL and a UAC5 and it did boost potential for me. It's tough finding something that works since Gauss are so fragile now. I also move more armor from the rear sides to the front sides to increase survivability if I run 1 or 2 gauss...this has helped.

indeed i litterally hate not having symetrical weapon loadouts.
I love K2 because of those 2 ballistic hardpoints.
2xac20 is fun but a bit shortrange and speed is below 60kph, which annoy me a bit.
2xac10, 4xml? meh..too classic and not really fun.
4xLL, 2xmachine gun? giggles and psychological effect assured.
4xLL, 2 ac2? less giggles, slightly more efficient.
my dilemma: i like giggles and efficiency.

Check my understanding here why this is so good:

Cat side torso is small compared to similar mechs with ballistic hps -> cover for XL and gauss
Moving to a phract, I gain some tonnage but much harder to justify the XL
Likewise the chance to blow a side gauss is smaller.

2x or 3x LL + 1 guass allows alternation to cool plus LL allows for more risky shots w/o ammo depletion

In my experience LL are a happy medium between mid-range sniping and brawling. They're not optimal for either, but they're comfortable enough.

Recently though I've been running 3x PPC and 1x Gauss on my K2. Yeah, it's ridiculously hot and kindof fragile, but as a sniper (well, mid-range sniper) I feel like I *ought* to run hot. If I'm in a position to sustain fire then I'm not doing my job very well; snipers need to pop up, take a shot, and then get clear. Or just hang back and support brawlers from a distance.

My average damage output is not amazing at 300-400 per match, but *boy* do I get a lot of kill shots with that loadout.

I'm rocking dual UAC5 and 4 Med Pulse lasers.

Because using UAC5, I got the long distance shot covered, but balistics for short distance especially againsts lights is very painful....hence the 4 pulse lasers... so far this does me good
