It now reads as Mister Blastman instead of Mr_Blastman.

What's up with that?

It would be the underscore not being allowed, and an error that did allow it in the first place.

Man that's a bummer. My name has had a "_" since... humm... 1996? Well, except for Mercnet ppp in MW 2 Mercs, on that it allowed a "." and a space so it was Mr. Blastman. D'oh.

My name was changed as well. The S used to be an §. It's really too bad it came so late in the game, too, since most other iterations are doubtless already taken.

I wish they would allow us a one-time name change, though. Just tacking on a 2 at the end makes me look pretty unimaginative.

My pilot/account name was "Czechu_NS". If I cannot have my underscore, then I would like to have my name changed to "CzechuNS" instead of having this ugly space. Unfortunately Admin can only change the capitalization in your name: http://mwomercs.com/..._4335#entry4335

Honestly, this is kind of disappointing. I understand that they don't want to open up name changes as a free-for-all, but I feel like this is a special case. Many people who had this happen would have chosen a different name (or at least a different random number to put at the end of their name) had they been aware when signing up.

There's even a precedent. When the registration process screwed up capitalisation, there was a thread allowing people to correct it. This is effectively the same thing.

Also, the dude who has my name has 0 posts and I'm pretty sure logged in once about 6 months ago to take the name and ****** off. Other belisarius, you suck. I'll be coming for you.

My name was changed as well. I'd be happy with a number of different variations of my name, but just haveing a solitary "2" after my name makes me feel like a copy. I also don't want to have to re-register and go through another beta sing-up...what if this account were to get in and my "new/correct" one didn't? Isn't there anything that can be done? All I did was use an underscore and at the time it let it through, I don't see why I should be penalized for that. IF the only solution is to make a new account, is there a way a Moderator of some kind could ensure that Beta-Approval status and such could be transferred to said new account if I can prove I created both accounts?

Hi, My alt code name was changed to Magus2, however if you look in the member list ther is no one showing up by that name, supposedly its taken but alas it dosnt come up... therefore I was wanting to see if I could have that instead, or my name changed to something else but prefferably would like to have Magus

From what I gathered, they merged the databases to allow for closed beta access via forum usernames, the existing user database (to log into the MWO client) took precedence over the forum database. Normally this isn't an issue, but at some point the username restrictions were changed, any non-alphanumeric (NOT A-Z,a-z,0-9) characters were disallowed, so we were automatically renamed to follow this new requirement, unfortunately, there was already a user named Magus, likely from the Friends/Family beta. Same for me, there was a Snake-Eyes (me), and in the F&F beta, a user by the name of Snake Eyes. My name was adjusted to meet the naming requirements, and since Snake Eyes was taken, I got a 2. Note: I'm not an administrator, so I can't say for sure that's exactly what happened, but that's my take on it.

But, I do a site search for "ShadowMech" and it only come up with my name as it is. When I first registered for the site it said that 'ShadowMech' was already taken. I have been just ' ShadowMech' since the BZ days. Is there a snowballs chance in hell of being able to get ShadowMech without the 84?

I ran into the same problem, had to put a capital "i" instead of an L at the end of my callsign

You had to use 1337 to avoid this problem.
