Funny thats exactly what I have been doing, Planetside 2 is fun, but I am torn between it and SWG-PreCU Emulator.

Does the OP think this is guild wars 2? Dont get me wrong, more content is cool but this is anything but an MMORPG. It is a pvp game. If they eventually make enough expertise and time to make another game, that is cool. But if the money we put into this game is then funneled into another game that I may or may not play, that is a bit lame.

Have any proof that the majority of players are moving on? I see new people and the same people every day. PGI keeps reporting gains in playerbase whenever it is brought up. The only people that seem to be leaving are the people that convinced themselves this game would be something it was never promised to be or have no understanding of what is actually going on with the game.
Can you please provide the source of this information? Last I heard (on the NGNG podcast) was that player retention was low (something like 2-3 drops, then they quit), which contradicts your sources quite a bit.

PGI made 4 console games... Console games no one is interested in...

Fools gave them 5 million dollars hoping to get a Mechwarrior game.

You got a simple team death match (LOL @ conquest), stupid bobbleheads and lots of promises for your money.

Capture the red square !!!!

Just another sub-par game in a market flooded with sub-par games...

Take that wasted 5 million and put it into MWLL and we would have a AAA Mech Warrior game.

As a sidenote:

The video game market crash of the 80's was based on bad games flooding the market and
a playerbase that was too intelligent to swallow the garbage being produced.

The playerbase today is so mentally deficient they will swallow tons of sub-par crap and
call it awesome sauce.

The modern market strategy is to create the lowest quality product the buying public
will accept, it is your fault if you accept low quality.

Enjoy your unripe greenish-yellow "Oranges" and your white half cooked frenchfries.
If one is raised eating ****, one only knows the taste of ****.

Sorry but you will be getting none of that. PGI is here to cash in on a franchise name by utilizing the money generating method known as F2P. They aren't here to make a fun game or a good game.

Exactly this. PGI makes a fast cash grab on the Battletech license and that's it.

Hey people played NFS:Undercover and Shift. X-Play reviewed Transformers... if I recall it was less than favorable.

To bad I quit playing NFS when I discovered better racing sims like GTR2 (not Gran Torismo) and Forza.

But youre right, man imagine how well MWLL would be doing with that kind of funding. Or if EA had put that kind of money towards the 10 year old MPBT:3025 and just updated it.

You can find info about games PGI has been made in wikipedia and reviews of their games.

http://en.wikipedia....i/Piranha_Games

Transformers 2 could be called "mech" game.

Talk is always very cheap. Just hire people to promise different things and play time. I still hope that promises of the content of this beta transforms to a good mech game.

This is PGI's make or break game. They are betting their professional careers they can make this work. EA could have made a "cash grab" with this game, but PGI is putting it all on the line and taking a big risk. All their previous work was just random stuff they did to get paid. This is their opportunity to really make a name for themselves.

I gave them money in good faith and I do not feel that faith has been violated. They have some time to get stuff straight, get people hired and producing. If they can honestly fix netcode to 90% this month and introduce DX11 by March I will consider them to be on the right track.

What is CW?

I take it my original question is answered with yes, it is just going to be a mini-pvp game =(

They really need to drop their MC prices by a lot if this is true ^

Also don't forget how they STILL don't have regional servers. Smells like trouble to me.

This one is indeed a bit troubling. For one it reminds me of Tribes Ascend where HiRez had most of their servers in Atlanta for a long time so the devs all pinged 10-20ms (and called them North America East region on top of that). A lot of the netcode issues would go away if everyone could ping 50ms or less via regional servers (NA West, Central, East, Amsterdam, etc).

Actually, no the netcode issues would not go away. there are a lot of players with ping 50 ms and lower that still have the netcode issues.

I didn't say all the netcode issues would vanish but I'm sure it would be significantly better for all involved. Even games with the best netcode play much better on low ping. It's just how it works.

So much angst!
Look, if people are leaving then hopefully devs will start doing more faster and better--that's not a bad thing...
If people aren't leaving, then obviously they like the game with its current pace of development, and I'll just shrug and go play another match. Speaking of...

more likely they arent leaving because : A) They're Mech Warrior fan boys/girls, :P They sank money into the game and want to get their moneys worth, C) There aren't any other decent mech games out there, C) some other reason I might have missed.

Oh and D) For some reason they think CW is some sort of holy grail that when/if implemented will save the game.

Could it be that they aren't leaving because they find the game fun?

someone said in this thread that they got 5 millions. nowadays that's nothing, and certainly doesn't allow to make an AAA.
qualified engineers cost, artists cost, more ambitious design means more expensive architecture, better customer service etc etc.
The worst are those indie studios based on handful of people, that envision big stuff without the staffing and money: stay away from them, you're in for BIG disappointment.
To be honest, PGI is not doing bad at all considering their size and funds.

More maps, possibly the oppotunity to take "limited offer" fights that net you more Cbills, etc.
