I would like to:
1. Test how much heat percentage and how long cooldown takes on my weapon layout
2. Group my weapons
3. Test distance and damage
Without being in an actual match.

That would be really handy... Just to test not in battle.

This would be awesome, especially if you can invite people to this "sandbox" mode for some training instead of trial by fire like it is atm.

Was just thinking this myself yesterday when trying different weapons groups. A simple arena with targets at different distances to try out new weapons and groupings.
Maybe even a target mech walking around for a moving target?
As a newcomer to the game, when I'm dabbling with new stuff, I feel like I'm letting the team down, so even a basic practice area would be great.
I was thinking at first about an off line arena, but now I'm thinking an online test range, like the golf ranges with all the mechs at one end in a stand and targets off to the distance?
Love the game BTW, great work.

FYI, PGI: I'm voting with my feet. Until ECM, MM/pugstomping, and netcode are fixed, I'm out. I hope I didn't waste my Founders' money, but at this point I am not holding out much hope.
Oooo, look, Firefall beta key...

Thanks guys for the support. Turning it into a poll/petition to get this added or at least some visibility to the devs.

Yes. This idea has been suggested quite often but it doesn't hurt to suggest it again . It was particularly mentioned in the context of a new player tutorial environment where they can learn the controls and test out their mechs before dropping into a match but it also works well for testing out builds.

Ideally we need two training modes. An offline one for testing mech loadouts etc. and an online one for house training.

I'd be fine with just a test area to set up weapon grouping and look at heat levels on weapon combos / alpha strikes between matches, like the a small 1-grid map (or larger) inside (or even outside) a hanger or dropship or something. Destructible training dummies would be a bonus.

It has been suggested lots of times. We MUST have something like this to be MANDATORY for newcomers. Dummy targets or basic bots would help too.
And even experienced players would love to just try their build to better evaluate heat management and so on.
