The new pilot profile avatar on the home screen does not look like anything from Battletech at all. It kind of looks like the Hawken avatar was ripped off.

C'mon PGI we are way better than this.

malcontent:

Noun - A person who is dissatisfied and rebellious.
Adjective - Dissatisfied and complaining or making trouble.
Synonyms: discontented - disgruntled - dissatisfied - disaffected

I have been staring at that "no-picture" human shape for... I'm not even sure how long. PGI decides to go ahead and put in a picture of some dude in a tech'ed out helmet/face setup. It strikes me as being inspired by pilots, who wear very intense gear like that. I think, "This... is far better than what I had before". Does it perfectly represent me? Absolutely not. But it does give me something better to look at. Something I appreciate... and here you come. Running as fast as you can to the forums to whine that they did anything at all with it.

On top of that... it's nothing like Hawken. Hawken shows trendy lookin' ruffians hanging out on their TVs with legs posing in front of cities that all look like the inside of a chemical factory. I mean... come on man. Do you have to whine? To you have to be that guy? So eager to complain that you complain at any improvement at all...

Please... for all of our sakes and for PGI's, next time you feel like you have to complain. Go for a walk. Step away from the computer. Have a beer. Smoke something. Eat a sandwich. Do anything else... because you're about to look like a malcontent to your fellow players. My opinion of you formerly was null. Now... what do you think it is?

You're right, it should be the guy from the Mechwarrior 4 intro but with googly eyes.

Actually I've been sorta waiting for a topic about it to pop up so that I could say that the moment I saw it I thought to myself, Damn that is a SEXY pilot icon. Best damn rendition of a neurohelmet I've seen yet. I get that it's not quite canon, because the pilot isn't in their underwear, but it looks good to me as is; a combination of the bulky heavy metal style we've seen in the 'mech preview images, and something like a jet pilot's gear.

Pilots in their underoos always struck me as really dumb. Because being in a mech full of potentially superheated materials to drip all over you makes sense.

Didn't even try and seek cover or ****, just took those LRMs like that Atlas pilot every round has. Dumber than a bag of dicks.

Not to mention I bet it'd be REALLY uncomfortable to eject in extreme environments without protective gear. Welcome to Frozen City, where it's so cold even multi-ton war machines driven by miniature suns can feel the effects. Hope you packed socks in your survival kit!

Does someone have a picture ? Can't play the game till this weekend.

Does the profile picture change if your gender is set to female ?

If you actually figure out those temperatures, there's no way you'd survive ejecting even in arctic survival gear. I'm pretty sure that at -180ºF you're just ******.
