Speedy, well balanced 50 ton medium mech with immense fire-power and enough armour to last through a prolonged fight, when piloted diligently. It's decked out with jump jets, and it looks fierce too. What's not to love?

First of all if we are talking about mech warrior universe than i cant not mention my favorite Mechwarrior mech DAISHI
When i was playing previous MechWarrior, i was really young and i dont really understand what i do, but that mech i loved for some reasons.
But now i like more something like Japanese mecha, something like LayLayonard from Armored core

And you'd be about 90% right!
I prefer the Thanatos-XT with a pair of LBX20's backed up by Continuous Beam Lasers, you can kill anything with that bad boy.
For clans, probably the Vulture or Thor

Both are just flat out badass machines more than capable of destruction.

Wolfhound:
Many lasers, great look, and one of the most iconic mechs ever. What's not to like!?
Warhammer
Same as Wolfhound, mostly. I also like how it's a reseen mech that actually looked good. The original is the best, however. Speaking of which,
Battlemaster
The reseen version actually IMPROVED a bit on the original. IT'S THAT GOOD LOOKING. and again, it is also a very iconic mech.
Panther
I love the mix of SRMs (my favorite type of missile) and the PPC. It provides long range and short range capabilities all in one, mobile, cool looking package. WOOT!
Jenner
Lasers. SRMs. Mobility and strange looking design. In a good way, that is.
Centurion
I dunno. Something about this mech makes me like it. But, I would move the rear laser to the front. JSYK.
Cataphract and Caesar
(This one's Caesar)
(This one's Cataphract)
Because I like them equally.
ATLAS
WHO DOESN'T LIKE THIS FRIGGIN' THING!?!?!?!?!?
JSYK, I have EVEN MORE favorite mechs. If I left out a few, forgiv me.
EDIT: Forgot Awesome!

The Warhammer IIC in AT1 is also pretty nice. It fits a LOT more weapons than the IS version, plus they're all clan weapons, which allows more tonnage for all the heat sinks you will inevitably need. I've literally packed twice as many missiles on this mech as you see on most missile boat mechs, and still had room for PPCs and lasers.

First of all, Kodiak in MW4 doesn't suck. In my opinion, if you switch it to it's original loadout, IT'S AWESOME!
As for the Warhammer IIC, it looks like crap. I use teh regular Warhammer in AT more often just because of how much better it looks. But if you managed to pack PPCs, lasers, AND missiles into it, I have a job for you. HELP ME FIND OUT HOW TO FIT AN ATLAS IN THIS GYROJET RIFLE SHELL!

Medium: Uziel
Heavy: Marauder
Assault: Fafnir
That's only if I had to split my favorites into those groups. Ultimately, I think the two mechs tied for favorite are the Marauder and the Timber Wolf.
I find the Timber Wolf to be one of the most versatile and well-balanced mechs there is. Put simply, it can be good at everything, but outstanding at nothing, and since I've always liked the multirole platforms, that puts it almost at my favorite slot, right next to the Marauder.
The Marauder is just a sexy piece of badass if you ask me. It's basically like a Timber Wolf, only somewhat slower and with quite a bit more firepower. Plus just find a pic of it; it looks sleek, and it sports two really big guns.

Medium: Hatchetman
Heavy: Black Knight
Assault: Berserker
Wolfhound is a solid light, and I always like to run a Black Knight variant that mostly keeps the original weapons but uses endo-steel and double heat sinks to get the tonnage of some extra toys. Hatchetman is a true favorite, though Griffin comes in a close second in that category simply because I've always had a good time with that thing in table top. Berserker is Berserker and that is all I need to say about that.

Clan Mechs: Adder, Nova, and Warhawk
IS later models: Uziel, Rakshasa, and Penetrator
Obviously from these machines, im a huge fan of prolonged engagement, all my favorites are primarily energy reliant machines, who needs a diet when an alpha strike from most of these can wash over a pilot with waste heat.

Give me the Shadow Hawk 2H anytime.
Why, because it has jump jets, good armor, speed, and a well balanced bit of firepower.
In the right hands this baby could take out a any mech and not worry about heat. Great against lights, other meds and heavies. Just when you thought you had this mech dead to rights it's behind you knocking out that soft amor.
