The clans might be represented in the forums but their invasion fleet is 24+ months away, if the stuff I've read is accurate the game will release with the invasion at T-minus 12 months and counting. Word of Blake is after the clans so.... I'm sure some Blakeists will show up sooner or later.

I'd have to disagree that Dark Age is what imploded the franchise. I think players who were stuck in a revolving door, endlessly reliving Operation Bulldog, are what imploded the franchise. I am a huge BTech fan, have been for 12 years. I'm RolePlay obsessed, and I for one loved the Dark Age lore from moment one. But all around me I saw people furious that the status-quo had been toppled. No matter how interesting the story became, no matter how many preconceptions were shattered (as if most of what happened wasn't preordained years and years ago), and no matter how dire the situation, the fans wouldn't give it a chance. And Dark Age was good. It was interesting, dramatic, the new 'Mechs were rocking it out - just look at the Jupiter. Rrrawr. (Hero Clix may not have been the best choice, but let's face it - the board game community is too small to keep BattleTech afloat anyway.)
So no, I don't think MechWarrior failed the fans with Dark Age. I think the fans failed MechWarrior.

I tried to like dark age, but the fiction of the new arc treated the old heros and characters like garbage. And since we didn't actually get to "play" though the rise of Stone, he felt so marry sue (perfect implausible character) that he was easy to reject.

If they were about to weave a story that lets all three happen at the same time and give the fans something to chew on then it would have done alright. Instead you had MW fans playing MW4 thinking, what happened to the clans? Mechcommand 2, What happened to the CLANS?, Mech Assualt, WHAT HAPPENED TO THE... fawk it I'm done.

DARK AGE!? Btech already had one; the succession wars
JIHAD!? Btech already had one; the clan invasion
I was all for moving past bulldog; and the FedCom civil war was cool no matter how contrived it really was. but the jihad
and Dark Age were just really really bad moves on the part of the writers. suddenly WoB knocks everyone done? HOW?
they pulled a mary sue army out of their *** to get the jihad going....then took over every spot in IS that was cool or memorable
how?

First sign of Clan invasion at The Rock in Aug. 3049. Kell Hounds encountered them when trying to attack a pirate faction that had made The Rock home if I recall correctly. Sarna for reference.
And I'll be happy if we never see WoB.
