Supposedly around $300, not really worth it imo. But if you have money to blow I don't see why not.
But yeah that is a good point, you dont have to worry about games not working with a certain monitor, but not nearly all games will ever work for the OR. Still I like me my innovation when it can be pulled off with style.

I have or had something close to this...
Tripple head monitor set up
3x 27" monitors
1x HP 720p webcam with IR function
1x Facetrack software
= No need for a funny hat with IR sensors on it to track my head movement.
Just saying..
I find conventional "head-tracking" software pointless unless the monitor is moving with my face. Why? Because I still have to move my eyeballs in the opposite direction I'm moving my head in order to keep the monitor in view (a monitor that, while not moving, has a PoV that is moving in the opposite direction of my eyeballs)

If you've actually gone in and flipped some switches in the code in your user.cfg you'll realize that MWO is 85% 3D Vision ready anyway. The readouts for map, weapons, etc all warp away from you into 3D space and it looks awesome. The only thing the devs need to do is push the targeting out away from screen depth about 20 feet or dynamic depth like half-life 2 has had for years, and it's playable. If they actually map the interior of the cockpit around the black polygons that live behind it (that none of you can see anyway) they'll have near perfect 3D ready game.
I spent $500 for my 3D projector and glasses to be able to do this to almost any game on a 78" screen, those of you who are all about 3D being a gimmick and have never truly experienced 3D gaming like it should be. It's nothing like those stupid 3D movies you see in the theaters and you can't do it properly on a tiny monitor since it turns everything into toys.
For $300, and probably less when the consumer model of the rift hits, this will make my rig look like an obsolete dinosaur for taking up so much space and not taking up enough of my vision. Even without 3D, the head tracking and complete lack of anything resembling a visible screen will make MWO that much more awesome. A lot of you have already spent more than that getting a 3 monitor display up and running. At some point i'm sure you'll realize that 0 screens is better than 3 screens.
All that being said, if you don't want to play a barf inducing oculus slideshow, you better have the graphics muscle to push cryengine at 60FPS with sterioscopic turned on.

What exactly makes you think the server isn't authorative on everything?
Never had lag which caused your movement to get gimpy like mech doing turns when you're not pressing a key, or not making turns when you press a key? Or not making damage allthough you hit?
That sir are the signs that tell you that calculations already do run on the serverside instead of the client side.

I'm curious how well this would work tracking head movement to targeting and torso movement. This means that your splat cat pilot is going to spend a lot of time looking back over his shoulders, but it could be fun. It won't follow your eyes, but I have a hunch it's easier to point your head in the direction you want things to die than a mouse in much the same way it works for the sensors and chin gun on an apache helicopter.
If it works well enough, you might be able to give up the mouse entirely and just map all your weapons to the num pad.
