This weapon gets so much hate, and I don't get it. It makes a terrible stand-alone weapon I'll admit, but when paired with another LBX or with SRM's, or both even, I can get 1k+ damage with this baby. Why all the hate?

It's underrated. I just wish it took less critical space, so it would be easier to pair with other ballistics. Once equipping it, that's pretty much all you going to be packing, ballistics wise.

Because yes you get 1K+ damage, but that damage is spread over a good chunk of your opponent's mech unless your really close to them. I used to use them from time to time, then I tried the AC/10 and the difference in efficiency is clear. You don't need to to do that much damage because with the AC/10 it's all focused in the center torso. The LB-X 10 is only useful if you just barely can't fit an AC/10, and you only expect to use it at really close range anyway (or maybe against lights at medium-close range). So yeah, it has its place, but it's a very situational place.

My testing with it was ok as well. was getting close to the same as I normally do but its a 1 trick pony. Was using a Atlas AS7-D with 2 LBX10 2 SRM6 and 4 Mlasers and was getting 600+ damage as a new player with average at best skill levels.

I use it on my Hunchback 4H and love it. It is generally the better weapon for the config I run, because while an ac/10 would fit, it produces too much heat to run two medium lasers and three small lasers in addition to the main gun. I'd have to cut back on these, but I don't want to. Plus the lbx10 has proven it's worth as a crit-finisher to me and is generally better to shoot those annoying lights. -_-

I tried to make a similar build with the 4G, seeing if it can replace the 4H (since the 4G is my founder, which I gotta keep anyway), but it can't be done. The 4H will stay in my garage and so will the lbx10.

Now I just hope for a bit of a buff for the lbx10 in the future. More crit-chance would even out its habbit to spray its 10 damage all over CT, RT and LT. ;)

I like...

I use them like SRMs as a short-range ballistic deterrent to lights. ;)

Think "sawed-off shotgun".

Honestly, I think it just needs more ammo per ton and it's set. Maybe tighten the spread again, but that seems unnecessary. It might be a one trick pony, but this one trick pony has devastating alpha's, will murder anyone not running CASE and is incredibly easy on the heat.

It's generally a good weapon for beginners, and it's really great at taking down lights.

That being said, I admit I used them on pretty much all my mechs before I figured out that I was doing way too much damage before finally downing the enemy mech. For this reason I've switched over to either AC10's, or two AC5's. The AC10 still offers 10 points of damage, at about the same range. The dual AC5's offer more range, which is handy in some cases, and a better rate of fire.

I dunno, I used to love them, but now I don't use them anymore.

I enjoy it tremendously on my triple LBX ilya Muromets. ;) Only thing is that the damage is so spread out that the huge damage numbers that results rarely result in amazing number of kills at all. I get more kills consistently using 4 large lasers.

It's a close range shotgun...that's it.

I have an AC20 on my Cataphract 2x. I thought about swapping it for the LBX, since I also run 2 SRM 6's on it as well, so I end up in a melee fight sometimes, but with only 14 rounds of ammo for the AC20, I usually run out while I'm closing the distance between myself and the enemies. The AC allows me to do more focused damage to them while closing, whereas I'd have to wait if I had the LBX, and since this is a Cataphract, it has a wide area to hit so I personally think it's better to do what damage I can with the AC, and then SRMS for the closer ranges...but i could just as easily go with the LBX, but due to the wide frame the pract has, I like to at least do some distance damage.

Just started using the LBX in my cicada last night. I chose it over the ac10 because of the weight savings. I've only got one ballistic hardpoint and no missile hardpoints so I don't have a lot of other choices.
So far I like it.

Until they re-address the spread pattern at range and the hit/dmg detection this weapon is a gigantic snow flake. I personally use to love the LBX weapons in MW4, but MWO isn't MW4 in Solaris where LBX's would cut a bytch proper.

15 ammo per ton is already pretty neat. I usually never use up my 3 tons. ;)

how many "pellets" are fired per shot?

It needs approximately 25% to 50% reduction in spread so that on average, 90% of the pellets hit the target aiming at the CT on a Medium mech.

I guess making the pellets count as 2.0 damage when critical hits happen would also balanced it in making it an internal equipment destroyer.

I am a big fan of SRM but LBX is a very underwhelming weapon imho.

If you could switch between slugs and cluster i might use it again.

I use a twin LB10 CT4X.. with an added srm 4 launcher, two medium pulses and 2 machineguns.. it works quite well in my experience thus far. As a brawl support mech it scores ridiculous volume of subsystem destruction on already-softened opponents. My CT3D packs 3 med lasers with an AC20 and an LB10. The one-two punch of precise armour-stripping weapons with an lb10 for critical damage & light deterrent works pretty well..

I also think we might benefit from having selectable ammo types for the lb10, if the game allows for that from the technical standpoint, which it should..If the LB10 slugs can deal somewhat less direct damage than an ac10, attributing to its shorter barrel..

I like it. It's best on the dragon as it's easy to shoot in high speeds and you will actually hit something with it.
