Yeah. Well, I prefer more armor, but that's just me. xP
Anyways, tested it further out for a while today, and I've been blasting the {Scrap} out of light mechs when they came in for the objective. Usually a friendly mech would engage them, and when they're dancing, I would just pop out from the sides, and you can definitely sense their sudden "OHSHI-" moment, as they bolt, trying to run away from me.

Doesn't work that often, but when it does, it's fun. xP

I just got the AWE Q8 and it is horribly out-dated but it is so much fun! The joy of melting peoples faces!

Do any of you fellow Awesome-pilots recognise this camo pattern? I asked the pilot, but he said it was the standard camo pattern, which it clearly is not.

I must have it.

I've been doing really well in this. Top damage on my team most games. I guess most people would probably want to go for quad lrm, but I feel kind of like if you aren't taking advantage of your arms you may as well be in a stalker or catapult.

Me again with AWS-9M.
Seems legit, i dunno i can make 600 damage, 2-3 kill, 8 assists on this mech. You can fight against all that weights less then you.
Why i can't 3xERPPC?
If i die too much couse R/LT destroyed, i use this build:
KEKEKE I AM NOT XL!

Heavenly Angel
4xALRM15 better. If u dont want to be useless in closer better try this mech: Yeah i am an assault!

4x15 might be fun when you're dropping with other people but it's way less effective in pubs because you can't rely on other people to hold locks for you, they have a nasty habit of abandoning you for dead and when you're alone and something gets under your missile range your 2 ml aren't going to accomplish anything.

I think you could definitely squeeze an extra ton or two out of your builds because nobody shoots an awesome's legs.

The 8R is great for 4xalrm15 and I've only PUG dropped so far.
The key difference is to make sure you've your own tag and bap and an XL300 is very helpful. The plan is to pick a group to defend/give too and stick to them. Don't rely on them to always be aware of your positioning - the XL is for you to keep up with them.
Granted it doesn't always work but it's not a bad idea to pick a DDC to cover and see how you get on.

On an lrm30 build I'd be tempted to run without tag. Run the first half of the map as lrm cover then switch to medium brawler once the ammo runs out. It's an interesting close-support build.

Just thought I'd say that I can fully vouch for Helmstif's 9M build. Only thing I change is to in a cram in an extra heat sink and more armour instead of AMS. Also used to use the 8R build a lot, but since SRM hit reg is out the window I've barely touched it. Ghost heat has seriously rendered my 8Q pretty much useless though (oh the fun I had with 4/5/6 PPC builds )

Considering that the AWS got some hitbox modification in the last patch, it might make it a bit more viable.

I know everyone hates the PB, but here is my build for it:
Fast brawler

I like to keep the weapon grouping simple - I'm not one to run 2 kinds of missiles on any mech. This build as you can see has excellent efficiency and DPS. You might argue that not being able to fire all the SRMS at once is a disadvantage - well, in truth to use them well at the moment you need to be able to send a stream of them to target as this **** the hit detection hugely (I play srms on HGN, KTO, AWS-8R and many other mechs that boat srms well) and this has been my recent experience.

If i buy a PB, this will be my build (already mastered AWS chassis but thinking of expanding to the whole set just for fun, as I love the AWS so much.

edit - the checker of words has bleeped out my word 'a i d s' above. Darned political correctness gone mad!

I just wouldn't run any SRM based builds right now with hit detection the way it is. You're better off bringing two LLAS and 3 streaks instead. They may be wimpy, but at least they'll hit.

Not sure if you read the entirety of my post. Oh well.

I dont have any real trouble doing damage and killing with SRM's at the moment.

I stuck some cheeky SRMs (a 4 and a 6) on my 9m, and have gotten a number of kills with them that i really wasn't expecting. Maybe the rapid fire 2 at a time helps, or maybe it's just having a third weapon ready to go when the mains are cooling down.

I ran this build for a few drops. It did ok. Has decent short and mid punch. Like all Awesomes, you have to play very conservatively (i.e. try not to get hit too often). On most maps, I fire the PPCs as one group and the LPL+MLs as another group. On hotter maps, fire the LPL and MLs as separate groups. You'll probably need Cool Shots though. AWS-9M

quit nice, but i would degrade the engine and fit 2 more heatsinks into this, cause 22DHS>20DHS

all in all it looks solid, BUT maybe you should think about your range. on those big maps you will miss Large Lasers.
this is a slightly changed version of yours with better range, better dps, better heat management at the cost of a lower alpha:

Overwhelmed with schoolwork right now. Will take some looks after Christmas. Seems like Awesome got some big tweaks.
