If you have an Awesome 8q you need to try this build. Lock the arms group the lpl into group 1 the ml into group 2 then the lpl chain fire to group 3 and the ml chain fire to group 4.

It has maxium armour and use your left arm as a shield as you advance or retreat when not firing. The armour has been relocated for a frontal assualt so bear this in mind try not to let anyone get behind you. I find the big amount of armour on the front ctr is a must have as if it all goes south you can try and escape or zombie mode it. The last point has saved me once or twice.

If you have a good aim and are supported by friendlies and are on a heat efficient map you can alpha a foe in the ctr torso and he wont be around long enough to object much. Remember your total effective alpha range is up to 270m aggresiveness is key to being a succesful awesome pilot.

I still love my Pretty Baby. I am excited about the new quirks, guess it will be kind of a big boost, because so many people fail with it.

Wow, can you tell, what build did you use for this?

i use a loadout to be able to engage at all distances.

u might think it is too much ammonition, but i need it. together with more large laser range and shorter reload time, it is a pretty cool running build for all maps and situations.

Here's another one, designed for the 8V, but could work on the 8T and possibly others:

Std 300, Endo, DHS, AMS
2 LRM 10's + Artemis
1 PPC (or ERPPC if don't mind the heat)
3 Medium lasers
BAP
A bunch of ammo.

What it does: The paired LRM 10's are not overwhelming, but they do keep reasonably dangerous pressure on foes. The PPC is good spot damage and can break ECM, and the medium lasers give you some point defense up close.

With the quirks for the AWS-8Q released ahead of time, so has those for the PB. Essentially, Same increase to CT, RT, LT structure. Increased all round performance of Large Laser (Heat Gen, Cool Down, Range) and missiles.

Most importantly, Negative movement quirks (deceleration) removed. That I think is the most important quirk for the PB

Check out Russ's Thread for more details and other platforms.

Thank heavens for the removal of that negative movement quirk, and negative movement quirks in general. They aren't any fun, and are a total slap in the face when applied to a mech people spent real money on.

Haleluija for the deceleration handicap removal. Ive just spent all weekend working on finding a good build for my pretty baby. Think ive finally cracked it too.

Mucho good news that my pb can slow down properly now.

Really? The quirks are gone already or is it coming the next patch?

November 4th.

OT: 3x PPC 4x ML works just fine on the 8Q. I saw a 3x LPL 4x ML earlier in the thread, and while that actually does work, I prefer 2x LPL 5x MPL, more power at close range where the Awesome is most vulnerable.

I run my 8Q with 2x PPC and 5x MPL currently.
With the new quirk, will likely downgrade the MPL to standard ML and stick in more DHS to compensate for the lose of old heat quirk.

Will see what quirk the 9M gets.

Then you have an awesome 8v which can do everything a pb can do except go er quick. The arm mounted missile tubes are actually very good for artemis equiped srm4's or 6's.

I've had awesomes for a long time, the 8T was my absolute favorite missile boat for a long time due to the 30x tubes, quad medium lasers on the arms and the tag in the head. Worked great! Fast forward a year and I've picked up the Pretty Baby finally. Dear god, This build wrecks face with the quirks and the LL CD/Range modules equipped. I ran a match a few hours ago and scored five kills, another one I grabbed 12 assists. I've not even elite'd it out yet, and I think the LL quirks make this mech freaking, AWESOME! Carry on...

Weapon group 1 is the two LL, group 2 is the ML+2x SRM4A, group 3 is the ALRM 15.

Running this in my awesome 8V at the moment.

Bloomin nasty for the poor sucker under the crosshairs.

(Yes it should have a 300 engine but i don't have one spare at the moment.)

I do have to say my 3PPC, 4ML 8Q runs better now.
So does the old Brawler 8R but with 2ERLL replacing the LLs, still has the 4 ASRM6, just need to get used to the new cooldown rates that change chain firing for constant damage.
Was LL, LL, SRM6, SRM6, SRM6, SRM6, repeat.
Now ERLL, SRM6, SRM6, SRM6, SRM6, repeat.

So how do folks feel about LRM's vs. SRM's on Awesomes?

- On the one hand, most of them are set up well for LRM's with 15-count tubes and LRM 15 bonuses, and it lets you attack from a safe distance for some damage.

- On the other hand, some of them can throw out A LOT of SRM's for a ton of damage... though the drawback is you have to get close to use that firepower, and Awesome's tend to melt under focused fire.

The 8V and 8R do look like nice SRM brawlers, though my own results have been mixed - some great games, some poor ones. Not sure if that's the mech or just life with brawling... could be both...

Personally ive been struggling with the AWS-8R trying to figure out a decent Lrmboni build, so far ive only had decent success with 2x ERLL, 2xLRM15, 2xSRM6 and a tag in the headslot. I'll be honest though I havent put in proper upgrades because im grinding out a bunch of mechs so im sure it will shine a LOT more after ive put in upgrades.

I wanted a straight up 2xERLL, tag and 4xLRM15's but I couldnt handle the stand back and click until the team won lol
