It's been about 10 years since I played MechWarrior, but it's one of my all time favorite games, and I'm really looking forward to the MW Online.

I mostly play duo with a gaming buddy. What pair of mechs would you all recommend, for a good 2-player experience?

(I don't know if it's relevant, but I usually prefer rogue classes in MMOs, and she usually plays a healer. Neither of which fits this game I guess...)

Thanks for any suggestions/advice!

Raven. Catapult.

Raven scouts and paints the target. Catapult sits in the back and lobs missiles.

If you are willing to be a little separated scout with Raven and attach homing beacons to enemy mechs and the other person could hit them with artillery from afar.

Will depend a lot on how you each want to play, and what roles you will enjoy.

A classic team effort setup is a spotter using NARCs or TAG to designate a target, and a large mech with a lot of LRMs (such as a Catapult) waiting behind a hill, and opens fire with a volley of indirect LRM once the spotter designates a target.

Well what others have said. Raven/Catapult team is a pretty good one, but so far from what we have heard it is looking like matches will be at least 4 vs 4 and up to 12 v 12.

Still having a scout and a fire support 'mech is a pretty good thing no matter what size you play. ;)

Alternatively,

Two Atlases working closely together and watching each other's backs (and focusing fire on one target at a time) will be deadly.

Anyone remember Team Venom? Commando and Zeus. I mean, it didn't end well, but it did give up a great opening for Mechwarrior 2 mercs...
