I did some messing around and just wanted to share what i did.

Find your user.cfg and add these lines.

r_NightVisionBrightLevel = 1
r_NightVisionCamMovNoiseAmount = 0
r_NightVisionCamMovNoiseBlendSpeed = 0
r_NightVisionAmbientMul = 6
r_NightVisionFinalMul = 3
;r_NightVisionSonarLifetime = 2
;r_NightVisionSonarMultiplier = 0.2
;r_NightVisionSonarRadius = 32
;r_NightVisionViewDist = 1000

All of these adjust both night and thermal visions
They are to me alot cleaner,crisper and not so bright with the current settings.

Enjoy

again all i did was clean up and not make it have so much of a bloom affect..

Its no different then other user.cfg commands you find on this board. So use it or dont.

Yeah, side by side-screenshots. And then we can discuss wheter this should be regarded as an exploit or not.

This is borderline hacking. You are aware of that, right? :D

Lol'd hard. Of course using official user config feature created specially for users that want to improve game perfomance for their system IS HACKING! How come i missed such an obvious thing?!

You up the distance your nightvision allows you to see.
The rest is finetuning, but that line gives you a straight advantage.

Yet you are changing values that shouldn't be possible to change.

What about you? Are you aware that "Object detail" in Settings changes your visual distance for mech models? Yet it's an official feature. The reason for this is simple - performance. Yes, those with better computers have a big advantage. Yes, they have better FPS. Yes, it's a straight advantage.

Well, since you are not supposed to put your hands in the game files, it could be seen as an exploit.

We can't change what shouldn't be possible to via user config. It's easy to lock down this parametres. Yet they're free to change for a long time now. And why is that?

Yes, you copy the code into the empty .cfg.
Well, a lot of settings available for users in plenty of games can be considered hacks/exploits/unfair and so on.
Until we get proper screenshots it's more or less useless to discuss.

the user.cfg is open to the... um... user to... um.. config?
the devs have at certain points actively helped people to setup settings in the user.cfg to get round problems with things like joystick configuration

the only options available to you in the user.cfg are the ones they allow you to edit... if they want this locked down then they very easily can do

I hate NV too ( Imo no point in using it for now. Looks awful, eyes get tired easily and it's still inferior to thermal vision ((
Well, the blinder with Advanced Zoom module is even worse ( I know fully well about double rendering for good PiP zoom in Cry Engine - but you could have at least switch PiP zoom for standard one till you find a workaround... (

If you wanted to get real creative, you'd have it transform the color values into daytime so that you can see it again as if it was perfectly daylight.

A bit like how people "X-ray" by using features in photoshop to make clothes transparent and then bring back the colors to normal through correction.
