Since there's no soundtrack yet, what do you play in the background while you're fragging it up?

I've been particularly enamored with Holst's The Planets. Haydn's Symphony 100 - Military isn't bad either. I prefer classical music in the background for my games---makes it feel more like a finished game. But, I imagine industrial, metal, and electronic music would pair nicely with MWO (for instance, I'd really like to see this released as an album).

So what are you listening to, no matter the genre? I'll compile responses back here in the coming days.

I really need background music for most activities in my life. I like two pretty different MWO soundtracks; it depends on my mood:

1. heavy stuff ie. Pig Destroyer, Converge, Kowloon Walled City
2. jazz ie. Mingus, Brubeck, Monk, Davis, Coltrane

None. With the fact that so many mechs use ECM now in game, I use my hearing to listen for enemy mechs, especially in River City Night. The fact that my liner goes to low signal makes me more alert for enemy mechs and I start listening for the thuding sound of footsteps. Music is fine for opening and ending credits, but when I'm in a fight I want to hear what is oing on around me not a musical score.

Add one to the camp that doesn't listen to music while playing. Since situational awareness is so important in this game, I find it best to not distract myself with music.

I hear ya... here's how I accomplish all three: VOIP on headphones, MWO on my HDTV, records on my record player/receiver. It's just a matter of getting the levels right ;)

Death metal. I've been finding a lot of really great music on bandcamp.com, too. Most of it's creative commons so you can use it in YouTube videos as long as they're not monetized.
