I want to be in Beta to make sure that it isn't too hard or too easy to head shot Atlas's.

I want to be in beta because I was the best pilot in MultiPlayer BattleTech: Solaris and 3025 and feel my contributions to not only "bug" fixes but balancing issues would be valuable. But I'll continue waiting patiently until my number is called :P

I would want to play the experience that ultimate feeling of knowing that I am a god of metal and flame, appearing on the battlefields in the shape of a Raven. Unstoppable and unshakeable, assaults and heavies would tremble at my coming. My mere presence would win battles.

That's when I do my first actual combat drop and get grappled by an Atlas and start screaming like a little girl before he chucks me into a lake and I Stackpole underwater just because. :P

Edited for formatting!

All the reasons given so far i agree with , blowing stuff up, checking out the amazing mech models trying out different loadouts, finding and reporting bugs, and finally being able to play this (what we all know to be) amazing game for myself

I really want to be in the beta because im actually from 3050. My jump ship strayed to close to a black hole and i emerged here in this time/dimension. There seems to be no mechs yet in this period except in dreams and fiction. I am having piloting withdrawals. Playing in the beta will help ease me into this time stream and sooth my withdrawals for combat.

That is all....

Anyways I want to join as much to evaluate if I should get operation inception as I want to help find bugs, I enjoy fixing games :P

I want to dive into the complexities of the game and fine tune the mechs like I did in all the previous mechwarrior games. Then go into the battlefield and see how well it works.

Since nothing in Beta is permanent (other than your memory on how stuff generally works) I would try to exploit and get things to go weird so the game itself is more polished and solid when stuff actually matters.

Last thing I want to see is a clear-cut stratagy or setup that is stronger than it should be or so effective yet too easy. "OP" I guess they be called in the role payers gamezsses.

besides that fact that I have an unhealthy amount of sheer excitement bottled up in me... I've done QA before and participated in betas and absolutely love it, and would love to contribute to something I truely care about

I want to play this game, I would lie if i would say something else.
But I am also highly motivated to report bugs, test whatever they want me to test, and even give, probably unwanted, advice how to make this a better game (if it is possible at all :P )

Most of my interest stems from the years I have spent practising the finer points of mech combat as a VWE Battletech master (tesla 4.0/firestorm). Though most of battletech incarnations have constituted a more or less casual, arcade experience, MWO is being created by some of the people previously involved in tesla Battletech - a game with levels of depth unparalleled in mechanised warfare. I am hoping that my participation and experience may contribute to similar levels of depth in MWO, both in how it handles the tactical aspects of combat and the more strategic components of creating a dynamic, presistent universe, economy and logistics.

here's to having the most comprehensive, immersive battletech experience yet, not World of Mechs.

I want to find problems in the game's design early on and add a voice to any potential failure of the title. I want to see it succeed, and as a player, I must know the best way how... and that is to make sure the game is fun. Buggy games aren't fun, so I'll help find bugs. Improper or redundant design is not fun, so I'll add a voice to this category. And, good MechWarriors are fun to fight, and I am one of them.

Being a big fan of the series its been a long wait for all of us. For some of us even longer, speaking for myself I cant wait to experiance this and clash mech metal with you all weather i get into the beta or not. Why do I want to play in the beta simply put theres nothing like piloting a huge badass piece of machinery. Hope to see u all in game. :P

To start.. being in the beta.. isn't playing, its testing.

Why? Easy.. I love to break things and find out what makes them tick.

To prove to the current Dev team, that a Vet, seasoned league team can help with multiplayer aspects of MWO.

Simple the reason to beta test the game is to fix all issue before the game goes live. That includes animation issue, damage transfer issue, collision game mechanics issues. To see if magscan sensor will detect mech in deep water in crouch position with reactor shutdown. If you leg a mech is the animation correct does it act like it been legged. Does DFA actually work in game like it suppose too.

Played the first mechwarrior back in 91 or 92 at Dragoncon convention then bought my first computer and the game within a year or two.

Beta tested the original Mech Commander 2 game for microsoft you had to be one of 5 to 10 people to post on different site used dialup and one way sat on two computer to get in on game sent many a game crash report in to fix bugs.

You take game add players and try to test every possible combonation to see if you get error or game play issue, once you find issue you report it and try to get it to repeat the same issue.

1: Check for bugs
2: Check out gameplay
3: See how well it runs on my PC
4:Test out different mechs to see which fits my play-style best
5:BEAT THE **** OUT OF OTHER GIANT WALKING DEATH MACHINES NOW RATHER THAN LATER
6:Prove to all the cocky people that at the moment were all noobs
That about covers it.

Simple, to break the game in anyway possible. And to drive giant mechs, but that one is obivious. But really, I want make sure the game balanced so pilot skill and not load out decides the outcome.
