Endo gets you more tonnage on every mech.
Only reason to run ferro is if you have a mech with so much space you can run both endo and ferro.

Endo is a risky choice when building an assault mech. I highly recommend prebuilding your mech in an external mech builder to make sure you won't run out of crit slots and waste money in the process. The upgrades make more and more sense the lighter your mech is. Endo is ALWAYS better than Ferro-Fibrous, so only toss in FF if you have the crit slots and are already using Endo.

Endo and Ferro both are only possible on mechs with few weapons and few heat sinks. That means lights and some mediums (usually ones without a lot of energy weapons.)

Clan endo and FF only take up 7 slots each instead of 14. Maybe when Clans are introduced, they'll have that option. At the moment, endo is always better in saving weight than FF.
