something that caught my attention at the end of the Cicada announcement was the mention of leaping off a cliff with a mech that doesn't have JJs. This got me thinking; should there be a hop/jump mechanic for mechs without JJs?

The way I imagine it working is that if you fail to jump/hop before the edge of a cliff/ledge then you fall on your face; which is really what should happen. also have a slight delay on the command (mech "setting up" for jump) to keep spam down.

This would give JJ mechs another slight advantage since JJs are instantaneous (just give a short burst to hop)

There is, it is called elevated terrain. I hope it uses a better angular momentum formula than was used in MW4. On a 129kph mech, you should make Beau and Luke Duke envious.

Just to rub it in, I'll paint a big "01" on the side of my mech and use flaming arrows in my LRMs. That'll show those Duke boys. And if mechs have air horns, I'll be changing that too.

Any Mech can walk/run off any elevation it wants. But, it will receive falling damage. In a TT game years ago I saw a Locus who lost its weapons run off a lvl 3 terrain and DFAed and Mech that was standing on the lower half of that cliff.

Even though the Myomers are like Human Muscles. It cannot make a Mech HOP.

If it's strong and fast enough to run, it can jump

I still doubt you could hop a multi-ton machine without jets.

Think of it this way; a mech has to land on those legs after JJing however many meters into the air (and be able to keep running), the force of that would place much more strain on the Myomer than just propelling the mech up a bit

When your in a mech with JJs though, you usually pulse the jets before landing to make sure you don't break anything.

Aha! I rest my case; they're called jump boosters, this implies that the mech can already jump without them
