I'm not really attached to any of the factions, that said one of my best pals and lancemate is joining the FRR. So I'll be tagging along. It'll be a chilly reception, since I'm a merc and all, but I'm not to worried since I always win people over eventually.

I feel like leaving merc corps out of the first one is a bit of an oversight if your second specifically refers to them, but hey.

I included "Other" for the Mercs and the Lone Wolves.

First thing they're on the scene I'm signing up with Battle Magic (and if I have to I WILL start them). Some of the greatest engineers and mechanics, labeled miracle workers for their custom work. I played as them religiously during the TT years

I was so mad when they got killed by Wayne and his Rangers in 3067 during the jihad, so I look forward to the possibilities of being with them once more makes me want to customize and conquer

Okay. Let's do some elimination.

Canister people are out. Too retarded for my taste. Seriously, Nicolas should have been aborted.
Federatted Sues are out. Because they are Sues, and I don't like Sues.
Steiners are out. Armchair generals.
Mariks are out until they 1) stop their santa-barbara and 2) paint their mechs in other colours but pink. Right now they might as well have ponies for unit insignas and rainbow stripes.
FRR is out. Don't want to be considered a freloader on a train heading to the canister station. Other than that - the most decent fraction.
Dracs are a possibility. But they are and will be too many. Don't like skewed balance.
Capellans are a possibility. They are few, they don't have retarded sentiments about "unfair play". Unfortunately they have the Adams family as their ruling dynasty. The prospect of living with Romano as the head of state for several years more makes my head hurt.
Mercs can be fine, but I'm afraid I don't have enough commitment to the game to play in a decent unit, and undecent units are usually undecent due to crap players.
So Lone Wolf at lauch probably.

I was going to pick Liao/Capellan, but I hate them, being a St. Ives Compact-er all the way, so I picked "Other".

Will probably start as a Lone Wolf, like my pen&paper character did (around the same time frame no less).

When the general tone of each faction is known, even without knowing the in game benefits, is it surprising that people will choose the sides that they have favored in the past, or that they agree with the aesthetics or philosophy of?
