Get Faster When Getting Lighter (Due To Ammo, Armor Or Limbs Lost)

Hi,

I know "its not canon, TT blablabla" but whatever, I like realism, so every step in that direction is cool for me.

So I thought, every vehicle we (in the real world) have now gets slower the more you pack it.
F1 cars get faster, the lighter they are.

So why not introduce this into MWO. If you have a Hunchy with 60kph max speed at full tonnage, and lets say he has 3 tons ammo packed and uses up everything in the match, he is 3 tons lighter than before. So in reality his max kph should rise, since he became lighter.

Or if you shoot off an arm of a mech he gets lighter, so he also should get faster.

For example, a mech who got his side torsos and arms shot off, could gain about 20%-30% speed.

Would you like this? I know I would like this!

Because mechs have legs, not wheels.

If they had wheels, I would support this idea.

exactly after losing all of that tonnage associated with a leg, light mechs should move much faster!

joking aside as long as the speed increase is SMALL i would be ok with this, and a SMALL (emphasis on small) bonus to acceleration.

There is no difference for an engine if it is powering wheels to turn or legs to move. You get slower, too when you are fully packed and you have legs too.

More importantly, when your engine takes damage, you should slow down.

I agree that the mech speed should be faster (<=10%) after losing non-leg limbs and that the engine speed should slow down (<=33%) when it takes damage. Losing limbs could be like Speed Tweak, except you have to be closer to death to get it.

as someone who has helped convert street cars into drag racers i can only say that the top speed of a car is limited by its drivetrain,not the engine,or the vehicles weight.If you strip a car of unneeded weight,you improve its acceleration,not its top speed.The same goes for putting in a larger engine. The transmission and gear box in the rear axle is what sets the top speed for a car,reducing weight and/or increasing horsepower of the engine only changes the time it takes for the car to get to top speed.In a Mech that would be the Leg actuators instead. so while i can see getting improved acceleration/brakeing, improved top speed makes no sense.(from a reality standpoint)

this. besides im pretty sure the system backlash from having a limb/ torso forcibly removed might cause some problems too. but im sure no one wants to deal with that.

Each chassis already has a max speed. So maybe this boost would only apply to mechs with engines smaller than the max? So if your jenner has a 300 and you lost your arms, you wouldn't go any faster. But if you only had a 245, you'd speed up a bit. Clearly the chassis is capable of such speeds, but until you trimmed down your engine couldn't pump out sufficient power for it.

I could support that.
