So, I have maxed out the basic efficiencies in the Pilot Lab Mech Tree for my Atlas AS7-D and my Atlas AS7-D-DC. I would like to work on getting the Master efficiencies for my Atlai but I'm not sure whether to buy an AS7-RS or an AS7-K next. Is one of those two variants a really crappy mech that (everyone but me) already knows to avoid? Your opinions would be welcome.

The RS. It has 4 laser HP between both arms (4 Lrg Lasers or PPCs). and the usual mix of Weapons.

Between the two, the K if you're afraid of LRMs. The RS if you would normally use AC-20 or Gauss rifle anyway.

The RS is the better of the two. The lasers in the arms trumps dual AMS.

The as7-d-dc is the op ECM variant. I can't see how you could possibly opt for anything else given the current state of the game.

He already owns the D-DC and the D. He's asking us what model he should choose as his 3rd Atlas in order to unlock the Elite skills.

Dont buy the k model. Half the engine is held in the right and left torso. So if your right or left torso goes down the you are dead. People expliot this weakness and you will die almost everytime because of it. You could put a regular engine and loose a lot of firepower and have to spend a lot of money. Go Rs

You can switch out the engine, you know.

Some would tell you Atlas K, but take a closer look at the Atlas RS... Look closely
3 SRM6 are decent on the D-DC, and the ECM, but I find myself killing the D-DC & K (even without the XL engine) quicker than the RS, and the Atlas K isn't worth the cash, the RS is your only logical next step.

I would recommand the -RS too. The -K is a -D that sacrifices missile and ballistic hardpoints for better missile defense. If you are sick of LRMs then the K might be for you, otherwise it's the weaker brother.

When building the RS keep in mind that it is meant to be an energy focused mech - it can mount 4 of the biggest energy weapons in the flexible arms, using the missile and ballistic slots in the torso for a secondary or backup weapon. Most builds center around 4 of some class of Large Laser or PPC.

RS is hands down better than the K the 4 laser hp in the hand make a world of difference!
