People seem to be mentioning this every time afk/suicide farming is brought up so lets see how many actually support this.

Yes, I know, it's beta, people may crash and this'll hurt them, yada yada. Seriously, would rather have 5 bad games in a row cause of a suicide farmer or, if you crashed, take 10mins to chill out while waiting for another game?

EDIT: It was "mechbay lockout" before, which in fact IS the most suggested measure, but seeing the flaws of it it's been changed to "launchbutton lockout". It's equally efficient however.

Locking out launching yes, locking down mechbay to the point I can't even tinker is a no.

It's not the end of the world if I have to wait ~10 minutes or so for a match to finish if I die/crash early, sometimes I like the break, prevents burnout and I can focus on other things or think up strategies/loadout.

theres no reason mechs need to be locked out anymore... since suiciding gives you no money.

There goes my hope that no one will notice the mistake, fixed.

Yeah, and that's why there's still a disconnect in every game, at leas on 1 team. Suiciding into the enemy team gives 25k CBills. You can do a lot of suicides during the 10mins it takes to finish a match.

People DC for a number of reasons.

People DC because they dont like a map. I heard a guy the other day on this forum that said he DCs every time he gets River City at night.

People DC because they got the blackscreen, yellowscreen or 4FPS bug.

People DC in the face of premades or Raven ECM hordes.

People DC in mass because their 8man sync failed ( these people are scum ).

People DC instead of facing thouse annoying sqauking ********.

And some people just DC because their connection dropped.

Looking out the launch button just further ****** off people that just experienced a CTD or bug, no thanks.

Next time, read and just answer simply, yes or no. We don't need a lecture from captain obvious on something that's already known.

Forcing lock downs when the game is buggy as hell so I have to be sitting out doing nothing due to crashing freezing etc, keeping my mech in a match.

I don't care if that mech is stuck in the match, but keeping me from using other mechs....no thks.

[REDACTED]

On topic. Come on people, you all seem pretty vocal when it comes to displaying discomfort with afk/sucide farmers. Lets see how many will actually support the measure that is most suggested.

I expect they are locked for two reasons:

1) To prevent people from doing something stupid to exploit the xp/money mechanics and then immediately re-launching

2) To ensure that repair / re-arm costs can be properly conveyed and calculated, as your loadout cannot be changed while the mech is locked.

From a gameplay perspective I understand 1) and from a programmer's perspective I understand 2), so I voted Yes You Dummy.

Last thing I would want after having the 4 FPS bug or yellow screen bug or just getting randomly dropped is to come back and have the game lock me out for 10 mins. Typically drops seem to even out over the long run. You can't really farm cash after cadet bonus runs out by suicide farming. You can't transfer cash between accounts. So I don't see how suicide farming can even be viable anymore.

Don't lock me out from playing because you are afraid of bigfoot or the tooth fairy.

The main reason for no is CTD, the secondary reason for no is bad pugs that go "holy crap its a hunchback! RUN AWAY" and leave you stranded to die.

HELL no! That's the worst possible way of approaching the situation. We NEED an in-game reporting mechanism to report players who do this. That's the ONLY way to handle this situation that'd be fair. We also need the devs to fix the bugs that cause disconnects. Before that, we can never be sure why an individual disconnected.

Is this poll just a trick to identify stupid people so you can avoid them?

If they lock the launch button while a mech is still in game, I would hope they would increase the battle rewards a little to make up for it.

A player who dies in the middle of a game is not going to hang around doing nothing, he/she is going to start another game. If players cant keep playing with other mechs, it will decrease c-bill/XP income and it will make grinding worse.

cbills / xp only for performance

standing in the corner doing nothing : 0 cbills 0 xp
enganging the enemy doing damage killing ppl spotting ppl capture stuff annoy ppl pull down their mechpantys : leet cbills / xp

downside... bad player wont be able to participate from good players... i don´t care !
Learn to play earn stuff ! Easy and cruel world.. i know but i like it !

so i did vote : NO
Since both answers are wrong to me ^^ But i wont have a lockdown on my Mechs.

naw. Why would I need to do this when I can just get in game and do it while earning CBills?
I'm just curious how many people actually stand behind what they're preaching.

So far, it seems like there's a lot bark and no bite.

Yes, with the caveat that players should be able to have 2 mechs in matches at a time. That is, if one mech is in a game and discos, they may drop in one more. Once 2 mechs are dropped, they may not drop again until at least one of those mechs is out of a match.

Gives players who disco for a good reason (y'know, crashes, bugs, legitimate deaths, etc) a chance to get back into a match.

Of course, a reconnect function would fix this right up. If that came along then yeah, by all means, lock the launch button.
