Hello guys,

last night I have bought the Fang and Flame. Altough ,I love Flame, I cannot get Fang to work. Could you pls advice me how to setup my red puppy?

Atm I am saving up for a XL eng, however I am not sure if 320 or better.

Thanks,

~BT

Ive had great success with FANG

The AC/5s link fired are like an AC/10 with more range, speed and lower cool down. And with the 13 DHS I hardly ever over heat.

I've been using this build for my DRG-1C, but it should work on a Fang too. It's very fast and well rounded. Great for fire support (even better than that gauss dragon that people seem to like) and can handle striking as well. Takes a little bit of skill to use, though, since it uses very few lasers.

The Fang is a tough one to figure out. I'm currently running:

XL340
ERPPC
AC/10

With this build, I either do really well, or I get absolutely obliterated. It really depends on my team. I may drop down to an XL320 and add some lasers or an SRM. Really no idea though.

Same build as quoted.

also I'm in a 3 man lance team and, i still claim to this day I'm only an average player.

I finally settled on this config. I don't think I can do any better for my play style.

XL340
AC/10
ERPPC
SRM4

I added FF so I could add the SRM4 + 1T ammo. This gives me an alpha strike of 30. It goes 91.8 kph so it's pretty easy to alpha enemies. It's not spectacular, but it gets the job done. I just have to avoid close range brawling, and I can usually survive quite a while. This mech isn't a finisher, but it will net you a lot of assists. It's a great CBill earner, and it's fun if your team is decent.

Fang is a toughy. Here's what I settled on but it's neither remarkable nor unique to the Fang chassis.

Today I have settled at:

320 XL
11 DHS

Gauss (2T ammo)in one hand, ER LL and ML in the other hand SRM6 in torso.

I am having blast with this setup.

I initially bought the Fang, after playing it and changing setups numerous times (gotta love spending 4-5mil just changing setups) I was somewhat disappointed with it until I found my current build:

LA: 2x ML's
CT: LRM 10 c 2 tonnes of ammo
RA Gauss c 2 tonnes of ammo
XL 280

The Fang itself isn't as strong an overall mech as the Flame, however with this build whether your grouped or solo you can do a fair amount supporting your team with LRM's and Gauss rifle fire. Having the Gauss in the arm makes legging lights really easy which is so important these days with everyone running the noobtube Raven 3L's.

If they ever change the TAG to a toggle switch I'll take off a heatsink and put it on the shoulder.

"Allesyria"
XL300
Endo
14 DHS

x2 AC5's - 4 tons of ammo
SRM6 - 1 ton of ammo
x3 medium lasers

Don't chain the AC's, fire them on the same weapon grouping and since they are in the same location they will hit the same spot. Every 1.7 secs. it's all about precision if you can be precise with those AC5 shots and repeatedly put 2-3 shots into the same spot your targets will drop like rocks.

Lots of good suggestions..

I prefer:

3 medium lasers
1 srm6 1 ton ammo
1 gauss rifle 3 tons ammo

300XL Engine
Endo Steel
Double Heatsinks

You can adjust the armor levels and heatsinks to put in a large laser if you like.

Found a build that works well:

XL340 (101 kph w/speed tweak)
Gauss (2T ammo)
3 MLs
SRM6 (1T ammo)
Endo
FF
11 DHS
402 armor

HE = 1.42. I can alpha (45) all day long. I'd remove a DHS and add more ammo, but there are no slots left. I group all 3 MLs together, and I have another group with all 3 MLs and the SRM6. Pretty devastating up close, especially if I can land a few Gauss shots on the way in.

I may try to squeeze an XL350 in there for a bit more speed. I think its doable if I drop a DHS and a bit of leg armor. But overall, I'm pretty happy with it.

LOL, I installed an XL350. 5.7 million CBills for 2.9 kph! I had to drop a DHS to fit it, and it runs a bit hot on Caustic.

You know the formula for speed is

egine/mass*10.8*1.5 which gives you speed before speed tweak than add another 10%.

Ex: 350/60*10.8*1.5 = 94.5 now add 9.45 and you will see accual speed of 103.95 kph

Simple math saves C-Bills :)

your formula have to be wrong.

so explain why my flame or any other dragon runs with the stock 300 (xl or normal) 81,xx kph.

With 300 you will run exactly 81 kph, just like my Dragon does.

Prehaps, you dont have "speed tweak" elite perk unlocked, therefore do not add additional 10% to the calculation.

Well, I knew it wouldn't be much of a speed increase. I just lol'd at the expense of the XL engines. CBills aren't a problem. After playing hero mechs for a while I'm swimming in them.

I stuck with the XL350. The loss of a DHS doesn't seem significant, and the speed is welcome especially when your legs get damaged. Really happy with my Fang right now. The Gauss just wrecks stuff, and is very heat efficient. And the SRM6 + ML combo is formidable up close.

I would go so far as to say that if your Dragon is running below 100 kph, you're really not getting the most out it. Speed makes a huge difference in what you can pull off in battle.

Take any 1N build, replace the 2XSSRM2 or 2XSRM4 with an SRM6 and add a TAG in the extra energy slot and done.
