When the cataphract first launched it had a massive cockpit. Pilots were being 1-shot KO'd left and right. PGI quickly toned it down and the mech became more viable.

However recently, I came across an AFK cataphract and wanted to figure out once and for all where the cockpit hitbox was. So I aimed at the face and shot.

Center Torso lit up.

I adjusted a little left and shot.

Center Torso lit up.

I aimed up well above the cockpit glass and fired.

Center Torso lit up.

Finally I raked it with lasers and somehow managed to brush the cockpit, but I had no clue where.

Question: Where exactly do you aim to hit the cockpit on a Cataphract?

I tried doing it with AFK cataphracts but I couldn't find it. That is why I am asking the knowledgeable and helpful people of the forum.

As a cataphract pilot, and one who has tested it, that right there is the cockpit. You hit the sidebeams of that box and it hits torso. Gotta hit glass.

Edit: This is information I needed to know, as I've had the CTD hit me a few times and I wanted my friends, whom I was in TS with, to headshot me to save me repair bills (back when they existed). Knowing where your own mechs cockpit is can be a lifesaver ;-)

Next time I get a chance, I'll try to make sure I hit center glass. But I'm pretty sure that is where I first aimed.

yeah do that... head doesnt mean head in this game... you need to hit certain spots.

*besides that.. if you just need to hit the head.. oh my this game would be over for random skilled player in no time... it is good like it is*

Yeah you gotta be pretty precise to hit that thing - it's like trying to hit a Dragon's cockpit. The glass looks larger than it actually is.

It's like that on quite a few mechs, it's odd. If they wanted cockpit hit boxes to be so small, I don't know why they didn't just scale the models to reflect that.

Atlas cockpit = Atlas left eye.

On the Atlas head hit-box, it is the glowing eye on the right side (mech's left). Not the non-glowing eye.

Head shotting an Atlas is a definite victory cry moment. I will have to try shooting the glass out of a Cataphract now...
