Best recourse when facing a "cheese" build would be to kill the pilot, this game is Rock/Paper/Scissors...... everyone has their weakness.....even ECM lights

Yes but driving over to their house and ripping the ethernet cable out the back of the computer is ever so slightly OTT.

Actually I did it today. And not by accident, but with intent. Why? The matchmaking screwed up so badly it was 4 against 8. And they came straight for out base, realising they could do a roflstomp. I was so angry...not about them I guess, but about the situation...I quit.

And I don't think I caused any grief with that. It's not like they lost anything apart from a cheap, undeserved kill in their statistics. Plus, other than that situation, I NEVER dc before death.

On the other hand I haven't seen this happening with other players. Just the usual afk / disconnect farmers doing it right at the start. So I don't think it is happening often,,,

I think the gripe is when you are about to get the kill on someone you were fighting and then they disco....

Oh, I know that. I was just piggybacking on this thread to appologize to the people that I was in the match with and to make sure that I did not get a reputation as a player that does the "alt f4 thing", which is something that I despise as much as the other people in this thread.

The only people that would ever get fooled by stats are new players. All the regular players know stats mean nothing at all, take mine for example 615 / 390 wow I killed 615 and only died 390 so I must be a good player?

Bollocks, I just happened to be in the right place at the right time, many of them kills will have been me getting the final shot, other people will have done all the work, they mean NOTHING!

I would galdly duel someone who has 10x better stats than myself and it would be 50/50 as to who would win, stats are ******** and imo should be taken out the game.

I have seen an entire team of 8 people "DC" right before death. And I have seen random people do it quite often. I accept that some of those DCs truly are random and due to the stability issues, but it makes me upset everytime I see it, because it is just too convenient.

If you are piloting an ECM Raven, Cicada, or Commando, i will dc on you every time If you can abuse poor game design to your advantage, why cant I? It's not about k/d either, mine is horrible. It is more about ******* in your cheerios.

Actually good idea. Might start doing that as a form of protest. Was thinking of joining the light cheese brigade but this is more effective. At least they won't get the c-bills or kills from me. Hit em where it hurts.

i have dc many times before a kill or a death but not intentionally. the whole game just crashes (many reason for crashes) but i really cant help it. it happens most when im in a big battle and after a few games. (when im on a roll i forget to restart the whole game for memory leak)

I simply laugh at the DCb4Death people, maybe I might comment how it must suck to be them and go on having fun.

Think about it guys, These people have no life except MWO or another game, they suck at it and can only hope to cause some impact in the game by grief playing or by being poor sports or even trolling the boards whining.

I don't DC to protect ratio. I couldn't care less about that, it's BS anyway.

I DC for two reasons.

1. Because I've had it to here with feeding BS OP light mechs being run by players who are knowingly abusing a broken game mechanic
2. Because I've had it to here with constantly getting thrown on **** teams and being forced into 1 vs 4 situations by stupid players

Go ahead, hate me. I don't care. I play for fun, and when it's not fun it's not worth my time. There's too many other fun things available to fill my time.

I hate it when they do that, but you must admit, it's all the sweeter when you manage to kill them a split second before they DC.

How would you know this?

Mack i saw your Videos and i even was sometime on your side and i have to say... YES.
You are a Medicore player like i am. Not brilliant but rocksolid.
I was playing Lights a lot and my K/R dropped from 1,7 to 1.1 atm i am playing LRM boats and it's raising again.

So maybe the DC People should get into Easyplay Mechs to raise their Stats, would be better, except for the one D-DC pilot i keep seeing Disconnecting. He don't know how to play a D-DC and keeps DC'ing when it is about to blow.

That is what i call LOW.
And for the DC folks. Lights don't sum up that much Kills, they sum up a great W/L ratio but not a K/R ratio as mostly they don't get the final blow.

I am not normally one to complain, and this issue wouldn't be one to normally tick me off enough to say anything, but SEVERAL times today pilots are DC'ing when they are a second or two from getting finished off and it's annoying as hell.

I know they do it to prevent a death to help their "ratio" but as far as I know, no one can view anyone's k/d stats other than their own right?

I do know that It's crap taking away a kill from the player that ends up killing a "D/C' mech, just because he is a jerk, I lose any bonus for the kill? even if it's not much.....

/EndRant

As I understand it, it will still give them a death but it will stop the player who killed them getting a kill so basically it's a form of griefing and should be stopped (how PGI can stop this is beyond me though).

Well, as soon as people will find out about some weird game mechanic that can be used to their advantage - they will use it. Last Dev Q&A had a question about DCed mechs and the answer was that they didn't count for k/d ratio. So, I guess a lot of people read those Q&A and are now using it because PGI said that they are already collecting some stats. Even though they are not visible atm for the players. So it's only a start - we'll see a LOT of players DCing before death as soon as those stats will become available.

What makes me wonder is why PGI hasn't fixed that hole yet.

Welcome to the internetz - a place filled with perverts and children.

I also have a hard time to understand the behaviour of some people in the online realm,
because at times I tend to see them as decent adult persons, which they aren't.

Those of you that were here in CB can feel the difference, I guess for everyone else it's just buissiness as usual.

Just get rid of the KDR stat and the kill shot bonus. If you put damage on a mech, you get an assist bonus. Problem solved.

While not yet in, I'm sure there will be an addition to the in game exploits/griefing thread addressing the issue in the near future.

In the meantime I will close this thread.
