Recently i have been playing with my Ctrn Al and i love it, although ive seen the D variant and i want to know if the D is worth the cbills.

If you want to run around in a 50 ton mech at 100kph+ then yes. If not then not so much. The hardpoints are not the best but it is a workable design.

I run mine with a XL350 2 ML and 2 SRM6's, i have artemis and DHS upgrades.

I do alright with it racking up around 400-600 damage games with a kill or two, it runs 115kph and i use it as a strike mech to get behind their lines and harrass there LRM boats.

Depends on the role you like to play. I generally like a skirmisher/harasser mech so the Cent-D is a nice addition. With speed tweak it rolls at about 107 kph. I run mine pretty stock with the LB10-X, 2 SRM6, and I believe 1 or 2 ML. I have mothballed it a bit so I am trying to remember. When I mothball a mech I take the engine, weapons, and HSs out to interchange with other mechs. Currently, I am switching between my Flame variant and Ilya variant using premium time to rack up the cbills. With hero mechs and premium time I am getting +80% on cbill rewards. Probably won't touch my 2 COMs or CNT-D for a month until the bank account is HUGE. The XL engine is extremely fragile so using it as a brawler is a no go. Best to use it as a skirmisher, scout, and light mech hunter. Best to attack the enemy by surprise from cover and do a hit and fade tactic. The LBX is good for racking up assists. Make sure you hit each enemy mech with the LBX and medium lasers when running through them. LBX is good for hitting a tight group of them to get the assists.

A pair of MPLs and a pair of ASRM6s plus 4t of ammo, add in near max armor and a big XL engine and you get a great shock harasser and light hunter. Just be mindful that you really need to damage spread and have a decent amount of rear armor. The D and the A are my two favorites, and I will be getting a Wang to see how that performs eventually.

I like the Centurions. Very versatile with a nice mix of hardpoints and good speed.
As others already said, if you want some more speed, get the D. It's really a good machine.

I'm running mine with a 300XL, 2x MPL, 2x MG, SRM4+SRM6 with Artemis and AMS.
Going ~106kph with speed tweak.

Can't make a mistake if you get the CN9-D.

CN9-D "Jezebell"
Engine: XL300 - 97.2 KPh or 107.7 KPh with speed tweak
HS: 10 Double heat Sinks
Structure: Endo
Armor: 287 Pts of Standard

The CN9-A represents the most expensive variant of Centurions and rightly so because it is the fastest 50 ton battlemech in the game. I've personally gotten my variant up to a 115 KPH.

The only significant change in this battlemech over the stock build is really only 3 points, but they are rather big points.

First: Upgrading the Heat Sinks to Double heat Sinks. Double heat sinks are equal to 1.4 STD heat sinks, giving Jezebell effectively 14 heat sinks with only 10 doubles.

Second:Removing the Artemis Missile System upgrade. Considering the hefty price of the CN9-D it seems foolish to pay to "downgrade" a mech, but like many others i've found the CN9-D lacks the missile slots and the tonnage to fully take advantage of this system and takes up critical tonnage that could be used in other area's.

Third: After removing the Artemis you can then remove the LRM10 and ammo and put in 2 SRM6's with 2 tons of ammo. The LRM10 does up to 18 damage at long range, each SRM6 deals 15 damage for a potential 30 damage with both up close giving you a harder hitting profile.

The Jezebell is a fickle beast and she can treat you good or bad depending on how the fight progresses. A hard hitting alpha strike could potential knock out a Side Torso killing your XL Engine and thereby killing your entire mech, or utilizing your speed and agility out maneuver larger mechs repeatedly nailing them with hard hitting alpha strikes to bring them down.

She is not made for brawling - Don't stand in a fight, you are not meant to trade shot for shot.

She is not made for line fighting - Don't stand on a ridge sniping and trading shots with other line mechs

Jezebell is made for hit and run - Utilize your speed and your agility, once the brawl and the melee starts slip into the fight, unload and alpha strike an enemy mech's vulnerable spots then slip out. Maneuver, take stock of the battle slip in again to maximize your damage. Rinse, wash, repeat.

Of the four Centurions, the D is the one I needed the longest to learn to love but as a fast SRM boat, it can really crack some skulls.

I finally got my buddy to play (after 3 months of harassment), he picked the D trial mech because it is the fastest out of the trials. He friggin loves the thing, and all because he derps at 97 kph with a shotgun.

Anything with room for SRM6 is workable (I'd keep the artemis if at all possible)

I don't like centurions my self, too weak for my tastes.

The CN9-D plays like a light with a little extra durability. Most mediums are too light to fight and too heavy to run. The CN9-D can run. I've found the problem with it is that it is way too easy to forget that most of your own team can't keep up with you, especially if you are used to a slower model. Which makes it easy to get into trouble with no back up. And at that point, running will get you away from heavies, but if there's a couple of lights, they will usually wolf pack you.

For that matter, being wolf packed by lights is usually a losing proposition, anyway.

That's a good point; it's one of the current trial mechs. You can try it for free.

I seen a guy earlier running a purple Cent-D at 124kph with speed tweak (350 engine he said)
His loadout was one large pulse laser and 2 srm6, he killed me and 2 others on my team and ended up with 800ish damage.
simply said I was impressed, I have been considering buying this mech for a while, its definitely on my list to get.

Bit on the pricey side tho, about 11ish million for the mech and the XL engine after selling the stock engine.

Go for it!

This is the build I run: http://mwo.smurfy-ne...46d9008b309d641

UAC-5 50 rounds
SRM6+Artemis 200 rounds
SRM4+Artemis
2x Medium Laser

Torso center maxed armour

Swaping the UAC5 for AC5 is also a good option. I use only SRM10 because it has 10 missle tubes. When I had 2 SRM6 I saw that the last 2 missles where always flying somewhere else.

Go ELITE and you'll se the power of the centurion. My record is about 750 dmg.

Mine's nearly identical to this.

UAC/ w/ 100 rounds
2x SRM 4 (200 rounds)
2x ML

If you're good at firing that UAC while moving at high speed, then this is a brilliant mech loadout. It just takes practice.

This might be useful for you as a rough guide to speed/weight. It doesn't account for agility, range of motion, or hard points of course and completely ignores the metagame. It does however give a good idea of what a good engine size is for your mech. For the CN9-D with an XL you want to be between 96kph and 113 kph or a 300XL and a 350XL respectively or between a STD250 and STD300 engine (81kph and 96 kph). Otherwise heavier mechs can carry more tonnage while going just as fast and not risking giving the other side an ECM cicada. Also, any engine>350XL is too big for the benefit as a Cicada will be able to carry more weapons and armor + ECM at that point. Personally, on a Cent I prefer a STD engine so I don't die so quick but YMMV.
