Being 1 or 2 players down in this game is a huge deal.

When people join a game and go AFK it really hurts the team and can result in a loss.

I see very little valid reason for the chronic amount of AFK players MechWarrior has; the games usually only take 10 mins or less. But It actually seems quite rare for one side or the other not to have some **** sitting motionless at home-base.

I would like to see some sort of penalty for players that don't leave the home-base box. Perhaps -500 exp, -100,000 c-bills.

If you don't have a free 10-15mins - don't play!

A lot of times, I've seen the team that has a couple quitters stay more organized, help each other out more, and believe it or not, win more often than not.

Cant blame the AFKs solely on the player....theres roughly 8 game breaking errors right now that pretty much causes most of the AFK.

I have to disagree.

Anytime you want to play 6 vs 8 let me know

I get disconnected at random sometimes, or the game will just crash. It's not something most of us can control.

Strange, I've played several hundred games and had 1 error.

I don't get my ego all bound up in this game so I couldn't care less. However I have to disagree. Most of the time, often enough, people will drop on both teams, so it doens't matter.

Strange, if I forget to restart my client after 4 or 5 games, it's unplayable.

It just won't load or will have a glitched UI maybe 10% of my matches. Not much that can be done.

Then you disconnect right?

That's different from someone just sitting there AFK

you might voice your opinion in that thread here, too. If there are gazillions of threads the problem will be ignored maybe....

http://mwomercs.com/...and-macro-bots/

and it´s mostly botters, even if they are standing around only, the macro kicks all mechs they have into games....

Whilst people do get disconnected occasionally its statistically a very small % of the heavy players games. Levying a penalty for doing so will have a greater positive impact on player happiness than negative.

Needs of the many etc.

If you find you disconnect due to poor hardware then that's highly unfortunate and you probably want to sort that out as a priority rather than effectively rolling a dice to penalise 7 other players enjoyments.

Of course, if 'your' side wins while you're already (no doubt) in another match it may seem unfair to be penalised in any form; but tough.

Introducing a reconnect option at the same time as a penalty for disconnect would seem reasonable, so you can reconnect to the mech while its still in the match - whether its dead or not.

Certainly something that is needed for the future where longer game modes/battles of actual persistent importance are here.

Not all of them are necessarily AFK though, there still are some issues where players will have a mech in a match but not be able to play or communicate.

Some suspect the afk players are 2 boxing, and one their first mech dies they switch to the other still sitting at base. Although I dont see much point in that, unless your enemy team is that pathetic to let you get away with it.

Those who itentionally afk to farm money are a rather short-sighted kind of people. They do this now to easily farm money to get mechs and gear with which to play later. They're ignorant, stupid or naive enough to believe that they themselves, when playing later, will be spared by the same plague they support and help grow now.

How anyone could truly believe that their own behavior would not influence the people around them...I will never get it.

From the official Exploits/Griefing thread:

Niko Snow said:

Away From Keyboard Abuse
If a player has joined a match, they must have launched the game with intent to play. Players who are not moving, or are otherwise not participating in the spirit of the game, fall under this category. While we all understand the call of nature: Repeated abuse of this behaviour, similarly to 'Mech Suicide and Team Killing, results in an unfair advantage for the enemy teams, and is thus not considered acceptable use. Please keep in mind that idling on your cap point without armour or moving does not constitute a form of tactical "Base Defense".

AFK farming is exploiting the game and therefore forbidden. If you suspect a player of doing so, report him with any evidence you can provide to support@mwomercs.com.
