Conquest Mode Dead?

100% anecdotal, and purely from my own observations but I've noticed a steady decline in people playing Conquest mode.

I have it just set to 'ANY GAME MODE' and click go.
The other night I thought I'd count, and out of 12 games only 1 of them was conquest.

Is this just a coincidence, or have others noticed the same? Have people just gone back to Assault now?

If they have, I'd go as far as speculating that it could be because of the **** poor amount of c-bills generated by a cap win?

And if a cap win is pointless(25k c-bills), surely a game mode built around capping is superfluous - Why bother dragging it out, just choose assault and get in the melee.

Oh and before I get jumped on, 'dead' is a bit strong, what I meant to say is "in need of adjustment to make it a viable option"

People have stopped playing conquest until they fix it. At the moment it's just assault with more points and less rewards.

I never play conquest except if I forgot to select Assault matches and I know that a few other players do the same. In every game of conquest I played, it was never clear whether we were supposed to cap, or hunt the other 'Mechs down. I never witnessed a match ending via capping resources. At this point, without a respawn mechanic that enables teams to devise and evolve strategies over time, conquest appears to be little more than 'Confusing Team Deathmatch' as opposed to the regular deathmatch that is assault.

Might get better though.

I prefer conquest. I like how typically everyone spreads out more. Or everyone moves to the closest point, takes it, engages at range and moves on to the next point. It's more fun. I usually pick Conquest as game type.

However, I don't like Conquest on Frozen city. It's best on Forest Colony.

Anyway, that's my take on it.

Its TDM mode. You cannot be quick capped so you have to fight it out.

i dont know what you are playing but i am set on any mode and its more or less 40% conquest 60%assault...and we have won and lost to cappping. I think both modes require a different strategy and it's more fun to alternate them.

One wonders why they didn't just make a TDM mode in the first place? Or an Attack and Defend mode?

I never play it if I can help it. The games, no matter how they are played, tend to take entirely too long for my taste.

I wouldn't say it is dead. I wouldn't even say it's in trouble.

Just yesterday I spend a whole evening playing conquest (5+ hours). Only once did I get a failed to find a match, but dropped into one a few seconds later.

At least between 8 pm and 1 am CET there seem to be enough players active in this mode to support constant play.

Conquest is dead because this game is full of mouth breathing idiots that don't want to do anything other than shoot other mechs. Its why you see over half your team running straight for the middle, mostly without any support, and ECM mechs abandoning their teams so that they can hump other ECM mechs while they both get shot at by the afore mentioned supportless Leeroy Jenkins idiots. The screams of "If its red, its dead" can be heard across the periphery into the furthest reaches of the galaxy.

In summary, Conquest requires that you do more than press your "1" or "2" buttons.

In case no one here reads the patch notes: C-Bill rewards for conquest were doubled last patch. It's 50 c-bills per point now. And capping speed was made 15% faster!

when we were dropping yesterday in 4-man we had opposite numbers like 80% conquest -.-

Especially on Caustic, I prefer conquest. Caustic + assault is the two packs hanging and circling around the crater until one side wipes out the other most of the time. Boooring. With conquest, the two teams spred out more, there is generally more movement and more bold maneuvers. :D

Ugh. Please no. Respawns wouldn't fix Conquest, they'd just turn it into a frenzy of people charging straight into battle to try and inflict as much damage as possible before they get blown up... Rinse, repeat.

Conquest always on. I like variety, even if it's minimal. Worst thing what you can do in game is grind.

I was desperate for a different game mode, I just hope they've collected enough data and taken opinions onboard to make it into something more agreeable.

It just doesnt feel different enough to Assault - I think if they nailed it with a completely different game mode they would have got more of a lifespan out of the limited repertoire of maps

Like others have said, I vastly prefer conquest, especially in 8 man team drops. No more do you have 1 team turtling on their base, waiting for the enemy to get bored first.

This makes no sense. It would take longer in dropship mode or pure respawns to kill all opposite mechs than to just try to capture all bases. C-Bills per playtime is what counts. If they would introduce the 4-mech dropship on conquest it would benefit it.

I dropped a lot over the weekend and I would estimate that I got 60% Assault/40% Conquest over about a hundred drops, so I am not experiencing the OP's reports of not getting Conquest games. The match maker is.. well... obscure it the way it works and I would not be surprised if each player experiences different drop characteristics (stuck on the same map x 10 drops, etc)

Conquest is a lot of fun if the players work together/are in pre-made groups. It is not so much fun if it is a PUG with 8 people playing their own agenda. Conquest would really be the awesome if we get new maps which are bigger than the current small play areas.

I avoid assault if I can.
You make more money there, but blowing 3 minutes on my life getting ninjacapped is a buzzkill.
