Since the Dev's are spending so much time on them and most likely want them to be relevant down the road in 12v12's, its very likely the maps are in fact a bit bigger than we can see.

That could also be it.

1) Netcode: W/o it, not as much fun, can't balance properly.
2) Balance: W/o it, not fun, nor competitive.
3) DX11: improves performance || looks. Which improves fun.

1. Netcode. The small change from the last patch showed how greatly gameplay can be improved by improving the netcode.

2. Lobby. Ingame Chatrooms. This game needs such things.

3. More maps. Obvious choice.

1. Netcode/collisions - all core game mechanics should be in and balanced before MWO goes full release, i.e. before CW.
2. Lobby
3. Team balance - tonnage/BV/something

One thing I thought was missing: game servers for EU, AU, and other area players. I feel for the folks in Australia, Germany, and so on. 200 ping on a good day? Nah, they deserve better.

Wow... Don't you love it when the thread is expanding faster than you can scroll...

It feels to me that there is a certain necessary progression to these points. Some of them are developed in parallel, as they are largely unrelated, but there are a few specific points which strike me as core to this product.

Starting with the basics, NETCODE first. While they just pushed out a big step forward, there's still a lot of work to do. Until this is clean and stable, any work you do on most of the other points is largely irreleveant. (Mechs, maps, and other areas unrelated to actual gameplay are not dependent on this functionality for their development, so can be done in parallel as mentioned earlier.)

Once you have the netcode stable, you need to group like with like, or you're not going to get accurate reads on how the various mechs and weapon systems are actually performing. Data should be collected in as consistent an environment as possible. To accomplish this, ELO/Matchmaking is, I believe, the next priority in sequence. At this point, substantially more accurate data would be available, and, ideally, would allow any necessary large changes for balance and feel to be done with a greater degree of confidence. Balance itself is a never ending process, and will ideally continue over the lifespan of the game, though after a certain point, as small tweaks, rather than large meta changing alterations.

Those were the big two, from my perspective. Many of the other items on the list come down to personal preference, rather than a sequential series of priorities. For me, I would put Community Warfare as the third objective. Once this game is stable and balanced, MWO will be ready to jump from being a tech demo to being a full fledged product. CW [theoretically] will, by its nature, include new maps and game modes, and will hopefully, finally, give the individual battles some level of consequence and value, above and beyond farming and KDR.

How well and how fast we get to these points can be argued to be the make or break milestones for this title. The longer it takes, the more people we lose, or simply fail to gain, and the fewer of them will come back when this game reaches its potential. Personally, I think PGI is doing a solid job, and progressing at a fair pace, and look forward to continued development of the product.

Anyway, just my 2 cents...

Lobby

Netcode

Better UI

Edit: Lobby and Netcode might switch position again if next patch happens to deteriorate the situation again. But as of now netcode is fine for me, balance is fine also in my book (against my assumption the impact of netcode and lagshield improvement actually was enough to level the field with those ECM and Streak packed light mehcs) so the most important thing for me is to finally get a lobby chat for the frontend so that some of the flaming can move from the forums straight into the game, making these forums a nicer place to be around.

look netcode will be greatly improved but takes time and the addition of servers in other world areas will help answer that question.
Every other option will be taken care of over time well maybe not lobby. That what mikes and headphones are for a lobby of sorts. The big question is community warfare. If we do not get that then the rest means nothing. Unless you want an other MW4 shoot and bang game.

#1: Fix the mech MC pricing model to something more reasonable that provides a better content ROI for the price paid, incentivizing more users to invest in content purchases.
#2: Lobby and better game filtering options (gametype, map types allowed/disallowed, # of players, etc)
#3: UI & MechLab interface improvements
#4: Features like Active vs Passive radar settings, Knockdown, Crouching.
#5: More maps and game modes (CTF, KotH, Base Attack/Defense, etc)
...then the rest.

Honestly? This is your #1 priority? Over crashing to desktop/freezing, 4 FpS Bugs and the rest. You gotta have cheaper Mechs.

Greetings,

I Chose Netcode>Balance>New Maps

1: Netcode: Without proper Netcode everything else is pointless. You can have the single most amazing multiplayer content known to man, and it would be crushed by poor netcode.

2: Balance: Ironically the same reason as above. You can have the single most amazing multiplayer content known to man, and it would be crushed by poor balance. When one item/weapon/mech is VASTLY used more or VASTLY underused, reguardless of what it is, some balance needs to be done. Once it was LRMs, Once it was Atlas head shots, and the current debate is ECM.

3: New Maps: I personally feel that even if we get community warfare, even if we get the ability to drop in 4 mechs, and even if the most perfect balance ever seen in the history of multiplayer happens to exist within Mechwarrior online, it will all be crushed by repeat environments. I think its fair to say that the majority of players dont mind playing in the same mech forever, well all have our favorites, but if we have to walk by the same set of trees forever we go insane...

P.S. This is just a little thing I want to comment on, If you chose the same answer for all 3 questions your not bieing honest to the poll and the results aren't as accurate as they should be. I understand those of you REALLY want certian features over others. but it screws the second and 3rd question when you repeat it. Be honest! I know you have 3 things you want improved!

-Thanks

This was an awesome reply. I want to try and rehash what you said but you said it perfectly. You can have all sorts of features but if you build them on top of poor fundamentals, they won't matter. It's kind of like the PC game version of Maslow's hierarchy of needs. Fundamentals first -> netcode, balance, and maps.
