I feel bad for that Thunderbolt...

I'd place my bet on the Hatamoto, though. It has 2 SRM6, has more armor and looks ten times less crappy.

Some might say it was an honorable death!

Don't forget to vote for the winner!

It's not a Hatchetman, it's an Axeman.
Also, the Axeman wins, because AC/20. Every other argument is invalid.
(I think I must make a meme...)
The poll on the NGNG site currently says its a Hatchetman, rather than an Axman... :)

I know the TT guys are gonna flame me to death and spit out my rotting corpse but I really don't want to see melee combat in MWO and I'll tell you why. All it'll do is cheapen the game and force the only viable tactic to be run up to enemy mech and hit it. And then all you'll see on the battlefield would be mechs with massive armor, massive engines and no weapons other than the melee one. As i understand TT rules it stops you from doing that but MWO does not (without significant changes to the game).
The Devs have indicated that they strongly wish to incorporate melee combat into MWO, and that its development goes hand-in-hand with the development of Solaris (renown for BattleMech dueling and gladiatorial combat) as a gameplay option for MWO.
This was stated in the MWO issue of PC Gamer (Issue #233, pg. 39).

Quote

Incredibly, Piranha is also exploring integrating melee combat into MWO. It may, however, appear in an isolated context: a standalone planet called Solaris, famous in BattleTech canon as a venue for gladiatorial 'Mech combat.

"We're super keen on Solaris as a future expansion to the game, where we introduce a whole set of new maps, new content, and different styles of BattleMechs, but also new control features and ways the player interacts with the enemy. That's where we would look to introduce advanced melee, beyond just running into each other and maybe the occasional swat," Ekman says.

Nothing in TT rules stops you from doing that. Except the other guys shooting at you while you try to close.

So the terms 'close with and destroy the enemy' only work if you can get to the enemy with that weapon!

And that my friends is why a Mech title with Melee would be amazing. Katana right through the cockpit, hell yeah.

Hatamoto-chi all day.

There is totally no bias in my decision what so ever. :D

Oh for the record, Melee is stupid.

The Hatamoto would utterly demolish a Hatchetman. It's not even a contest. It's got over twice the armor, far better weapons loadout...everything about it is better..

I don't much care for the Combine, but the Hatomoto-Chi just dropped 3 mechs without breaking an lubricated sweat... the Axe-Man got drop on him with the AC/20 and only managed to take off his left arm.

So my vote... Hatomoto-Chi

So do we need to register to vote or some other daft thing?

Either way I'd vote for the 'moto-chi. Simply because it killed a Commando. Blasted things.
