Hey you know why everyone likes Starcraft? It is an even match of skill with a great league system that matches relatively equal opponents against one another.

I played some 8v8 today and it was quite fun! Both sides used tactics and well designed mechs against one another. We made a big mistake running into an ambush and everyone was ok with the loss. The very next match we are against the same team on the same map. We went water, patiently waited fighting their snipers one at a time. We overcame this team with coordination and tactics.

You know what is not fun? Pugging and getting stomped by teams. When pugging, it is maybe 50/50 chance that someone even tells after I ask if they are lrm/sniper. Literally 0 team coordination. I assume they can't speak english, but I have no idea. Sure premading stomping the pugs isn't totally unfun, but why not make a situation where both sides are having fun?

If you split the queue, requiring premades to be matched with premades and the premades don't queue, the premades would just split the group and enter the pub queue. Not a big problem. However, when you insist on one queue for both pug and premade, one side, the pugs, are nearly guaranteed not to have fun. Maybe just have a 4v4 mode where premades who can't get 8 players can enter the 4 person team there.

In before: You are a scrub and I beat premades pugging in my trial mech. In TT pugs get matched against premades and its always a fun even match! You are terrible, go play COD:BO2!

I dont mind going up against a premade until they start acting like 12 year olds and taunting deaths and people for not being coordinated with a PUG. How the heck do you get team unity when you have literally 20 seconds to check the map, start moving and watching to ensure everyone is moving in groups and not off on thier own.

...and the fact that threads like this keep showing up just reinforces the fact that this is an issue that should be dealt with sooner instead of later...

"Join a team and/or get on teamspeak" is not a solution.

I have heard that PGI is working on a skill-based matchmaking system where players of equal skill are being matched together, though I think having new players play against new players or even AN INTERACTIVE TUTORIAL ON HOW TO PLAY (like in MW4) would help things out.

I imagine many new players just glance at the controls and jump right in, not really aware of tactics, how the weapons work (I had a guy on my team dumping LRMs constantly under _100m_, sometimes without lock (he was in the trial Dragon)), or maybe even how to communicate.

I have been leveling a couple non-ecm variants of the commando that I was unwilling to weight down my premades with. The LRM thing happens quite often.

I feel like the solution to this is to add a pre-game lobby where team coordination starts before the mechs drop. Though it would be difficult to implement and could fly in the face of the current match making system (by weight class, as I understand it).

I think something that can start to bridge the gap is a post-game lobby so that people start talking to each other more.... but I'd still like to see a pre-game lobby! Maybe it can be a different mode that you can select. (like draft vs blind pick in LoL)

They need a playable tutorial. If you could focus on playing instead of how things work, you'd pick up the tatics faster.

I posted a similar thread about PUGs here: http://mwomercs.com/...s-still-borked/

PUGs would work better if the matchmaking code worked. Experienced players should never be teamed up with inexperienced players. That's a surefire recipe for doom.
