I have no issues with an ECM Atlas, I have taken multiple
of them down in a game. However, 3Ls going 150KPH
is another story. Tag is of no use, but that does not matter
because the disruption dome prevents any lock.
LB10's help a lot, pulse lasers as well.
I do have success with lag shooting, some here have explained the concept
and it works pretty good, but that is irrelevant because there are 5 others to
shoot, all of which streak you to death with impunity...
This is NOT MWO. This is Hawken...
Again, for people that just want to show their ePenos in this thread,
MW has a defined set of rules that have existed for a long, long time...
I am totally OK with how ECM works in the rules.
Because the rules are for Mech Warrior...

Or is that too hard for you?
There is no shield that stops them from taking damage if you find the sweet lead spot. Unless you're a no skill player that relies on autolock, auto guided cheese to do damage. If so I only laugh at you.
That's great and all, but my damage is drastically reduced while I try to find the "sweet lead spot", especially with lasers where the damage is spread out over time. Calling people wimps because they are unhappy about having to lead with laser weapons, weapons that are beams of light and are supposed to move faster than 150 KPH is just annoying. Often I find myself trying to hit something that is in reality not even on my screen anymore because of lag.

i see DDC´s gettin killed by a lot of (appearently VERY skilled or overly smart) people...
i see raven 3L´s die from Jenner´s (OMFG jenner ain´t haz no ECM...haxx?) and...what the f+++ even by heavy and assault mechs?
ECM changed the gameplay, no doubt... what didn´t change? dumbfire tacticts...

you will always have to lead weapons on a moving target...
alright... i killed quite a few people yesterday in my raven, and you know what? they ALL were out alone... easy snack for any light mech, and always been that way, not since ECM or what ever...
if i tried that in a bunch of grouped enemies, i am dead as quick as i got there...

Well, no.
What it did was make the game entirely about dumbfire tactics. So now you see 6xSRM6 cats, Atlases running either 3xSSRM2 or SSRM6 loadouts, ditto for Stalkers, minus the SSRMs unless premade with an ECM buddy.
Basically they turn the game into pretty much a 100% dumbfire zone...
Have for me too... I know on my medium/heavy's, I load out specifically non-locking weapons, and wide spray light killing weapons like SRM or LBX ACs. And, it's getting really boring.

and the weapons you can use can't land well enough on laggy netcode bugged mechs, 90kph+ mechs so raven, commando, and cicada get a big perk. then those ecm mechs with missle slots get to use the op ssrms back on you, ravens again and commandos, atlas could do it too. many have complained about hitscan issues and dumping ac20 alphas on them without a scratch so yeah there is infact a scandle going on.
then to add salt into the wound everyone figures out these perks/bugs so they're flooding out matches, diversity destroyed, tactics destroyed. game becomes stale and repetative.
my bet is on no ecm changes, spiders will die in ssrm agony and people will give up and find another game to play.

I have two D-DCs with slightly different armament and colour. And they are D-DC only because I don't like being sweeped out with LRMs. And, of course, my second variant, named "SCARECROW", has SSRMs to kill those running too fast to aim normally.

disagree...the 6ssrm cat was a hot QQ topic next to dual gauss during a huge part of the CBT, long before ECM was even announced, THAT was a dumbfire build... the ECM made them appear less...
there was 2 huge things... ssrm terror and LRM rain, most of the matches were decided by the LRM´s for a while (well you could counter that for sure, but very hard in PuG matches...) even making ssrm less accurate didn´t change that...
it´s people who chose the easy way who go for a 6 srm6 build ( not all, but many i guess), it was a matter of time till some smartguy found out that it´s 72 alpha damage ( or a little less with the new numbers?^^)
as for the atlas... those builds were also very popular before ECM,just more streaks because people were too lazy toaim the srm (woohooo it spreads..).
even if we take out ECM completely... as soon as SSRM6 appear you wish it back...
btw, i don´t see how the srm6 cat is a consequence out of ecm... it doesn´t hit better than lasers, AC´s or PPC´s ...it´s just the easiest way to get a high alpha damage... ECM only counters the (less damaging) "fire and forget" builds

They just creep up and cancel all your weapons.
I have no idea why this turned into the fallacy that it is now.
The rules were written a long time ago...
Will try new patch for a couple of games, but if there is no change to ECM
or how BAP IS SUPPOSED to help with it, I will spend my time doing something else.
Cheers and have a good night.
You can dumbfire LRMs and pretty much everything in the game...sooooo..
You must be an A-1 Streak Cat, which in that case...
Good. Good for you.

I agree that ECM limits the game but put ECM and streaks together and you have what most people are complaining about. Here's hoping the patch does something useful besides adding another light mech target.

just wait for the jump-jet fix. Then you can maneuver much better and use it to your advantage. You must have noticed the ECM carriers don't have JJ, right?
I hope spider will have both ECM and JJ but will have no missile hardpoints for balance.

I personally feel like disconnecting when Im getting orbited by a ECM commando with streaks that I Just. Cannot. Hit.
Yeah we all try to lead the target for lagshield, but no one can seriously be suggesting that this is 100% working as intended.
Been learning to shoot lagshielded Ravens. Can take them down but it is very unefficient, time consuming without proper alpha and extremely frustrating. Shooting a Raven basically drops my dmg/match by ~200.

IS PATCH DAY.....
I'm eager to hop in a spider and roam the earth. Travel to work in it and back. Fly around (hoping that JJ's are fixed). Fun stuff. If JJ's aren't fixed though, I'm not buying a Spider.
I don't care about ECM, complaining about it doesn't do anything and we all know there's other things to come to counter it, so I don't understand the kerfuffle about it.
What are these "other things" you are talking about????????????????

I've aimed and hit people with dumbfire LRMs. Even better if you have LoS down a city corridor, and your team mates are leading them into the open spot.
you're the troll.

LRMs are still perfectly viable, but insisting that dumbfiring them is a viable justification for the tonnage is ludicrous at best. Dumb firing LRMs, while possible, is a novelty, NOT a viable build strategy. LRM tactics include open field (caustic) TAGging, ECM superiority, and team coordination via TS. Claiming dumbfiring is anything useful to plan around is pure troll...plain and simple.
