i do not feel there is much counter play in this game because of the way we are dropped. in other games you have leveling, items, respawn, character select lobby just to name a few. there is some form of progression that bring counter build/play into the game.
we can argue that tag counters ecm or close range counters lrm etc. but there is no preparation or mid game counter. then you can say "work as a team" but your dropped into game with 1min tops to come up with a plan?
in real battle (correct me if im wrong) there is preparation before going in (plan of attack/counter attack). other games have this in the form of what i have mentioned before. now im not suggesting that mwo have a 5min prematch chat but im asking.
-what kind of countering can i do in game now?
-does the game even emphasise on this?
-what might the game need to do for more of this play?
adding an example of counter play. this is not a suggestion but just something to give you an idea.
if there was a drop lobby, where you could see both sides mechs being picked. this would allow players to make decision on their pick. you have knowledge of what has what hardpoints, support items, class, firepower etc. (not knowing what their load out is) but you can counter pick because of this knowledge.
