I don't remember single game for last month where there was no disconnected players or some afk, and it is most irritating because it decreases team chances of winning and ruining fun from the game. I don't understand why people do this but solution is simple I think.

When someone disconnect within first 1-2 minutes of the game or is completely inactive DON'T GIVE HIM A SINGLE CREDIT at the end of game.

I would even go not only for 1 or 2 minutes but entire game. Only if player disconect after been killed he should not suffer any penelty.

Its been discussed a lot, and really just two results seem acceptable to ensure fairness

1. allow reconnecting to a game until match over
2. disconnected mechs/pilots remain in game until destroyed or match over

so if your mech gets destroyed after disconnect you still get the death, enemy gets the kill. But at least for those who can quickly rejoin the game they have a chance to continue to contribute. Those who purposefully disconnect gain nothing.

There really should be the option to reconnect. I think many of the disconnects are the buggy beta game crashing. When I play with my friend(s) one or more of us will crash per night it happens.

If you honestly believe people intentionally disconnecting is a bigger issue than those unintentionally disconnecting, I respectfully suggest you may need to reevaluate your priorities.

Personally, I couldn't care less about missing out on ~30k in C-Bills from a dropped match. But after crashing to desktop, staring at a black screen, and/or watching your framerate plummet to single digits due to any one of the numerous bugs that still plague the game client? That might be enough for someone to simply write off MWO altogether. No need to add insult to injury.

Stabilize the game with a rock-solid client and then we can worry about the intentional afk/disconnecting knuckleheads.

I disagree Hansh0tfirst, I can honestly say that the number of unintentional disconnects I have had have been less than 1% of my total games. That includes the yellow block issue and in those situations I am fine with losing any benefits I might have gained.

I can however say with certainty that players such as Mulan and Vor0doR have disconnected in EVERY single match I have seen them in - clearly farming cash and probably XP - in fact if it isnt done by macro I would be surprised.

I would go so far as to ask if any player had ever seen them ACTUALLY play the game!

Does Karls suggestion go far enough, I would retrospectively take ALL benefits gained from those players that the devs can clearly track.

I agree with CapperDeluxe that both of the suggestions would be useful with one minor addition

1. allow reconnecting to a game until match over
2. disconnected mechs/pilots remain in game until destroyed or match over -
3. players can only be present/connected to 1 game at a time

@Fealth

Far be it for me to defend people willfully exploiting, cheating or abusing game mechanics. That's unforgivable and inexcusable. And I agree with you; bozos like that should be severely reprimanded, if not outright banned.

However, that said, you may want to review this forum's policy on "naming & shaming" and consider editing your post.

I saw them too..... If i remember correctly in one game we were on the theme and mention them also.

And I don't believe that most of DC is because of net code. In about 500 games I was disconnected only ONCE !

So it is not necessarily always technical issue with game. Maybe some system or hardware error.

PS. My PC is quite old and internet connection about average quality but my win7 is always in perfect condition.

Harassment was not the intent of the post, but I can see how it could be construed that way - I will leave it to the moderators for a judgement call on that one as I have already been quoted

Thank you for pointing it out though

(Oh and Han definately shot first - it establishes his whole character for crying out loud!)
