Took me nearly all of the match but I slowly stripped its back armor out with the ERLL. Finally as the rest of my team moved to engage and started working on it front armor I got that mythical thing....
DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA... BOOM! MG kill.... So sexy...
And to continue on I was playing on Forest colony and my team had the game mostly won. We were in clean up mode and I was just DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA anything that moved... I strafed by a Stalker that was mauled and what do you know.....
DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA... BOOM!! MG Kill.
While I most likely won't be keeping the K variant, and it has been painful to level it, I must say nothing makes me giggle more than the MG kills..

My 5D is equipped with the 255xl engine, 4 jump jets, and an ER PPC. The way this mech bounces around making short jumps for extra turning ability is more than slightly reminiscent of Yoda's fight scene in Attack of the Clones.
Best trick so far:
I was in Frozen City being chased by a cicada. I was jumping and rounding corners but couldn't shake him even after leading him through the rest of the group. Finally I did a 180 degree turn and landed moments away from colliding with it. At the last possible moment I fired the ERPPC directly into the cockpit. Jedi spider trick indeed.
Edit: I look forward to seeing what this mech is capable of when I have the speed tweak skill.

I do wish for 2 things with regard to the Spider:
- ECM on all 3 variants
- One more laser port on the 5V (I know it's not canon)
I love the mechs though... they are alot of fun.
Oh.. and for tricks? The AC5 Spider that flies around raining dakka on the lands below is always fun.

That might have been me. If it was a hunchie that was missing an arm and had barely any armor left. If it wasn't me, then kudos to whoever it was.
In my case, I believe it was a shot to the red internals of of the center torso as I frantically flew over him and away from his stalker buddy.

And there's the problem with the Spider at the moment. All these cool features and not much damage. It's kinda like a Honda Ridgeline in that way; it does all the non-truck stuff well, but sucks as a truck.
We need more non-combat roles (and larger maps) before the Spider becomes truly useful. This mech is built for Snatch and Grab raids. It's fast, it jumps, and it has hands.
Either that or a dramatic improvement in the combat usefulness of jump jets, so they are as potent as they are in TT. Spiders are annoying as heck in TT, with their ability to place themselves on any nearby hex on every turn, regardless of terrain. There's no way to even come close to that capability in MWO, which is why people don't care much about JJ.

Of course, I lost in the end to a SRM cat who'd I manage to pick apart and he only had a LL left and a cherry red CT, but then I finally lost my leg to him.
This was in a 3MPL 5D, or whatever the ECM variant is.
Challenge accepted! On average I can score about 800-900 XP with 5D. Sometimes I can get up to 1400. Spider is paperthin and does not stand a chance against other lights with streaks. But if it can catch heavy/assault in a 1v1, it is game over. Easiest to kill by far are stalkers and cataphracts.

idk bec i dnt really use them.. but ill tell u the spider is SOO manueverable i am spending a great deal of time.. focusing on movement... It gets from point a to b ... fast... so fast..
JJ.. are incredibly useful.
If this game had proper analog input for hotas and I used one<like i did for mw4> i would feel like a superhero running this thing..
i m sure id do well in the jenner too, but i stayed away from OP builds. Same with raven.
In the spider I have no guilt bec it really is squishy, but i cant tell you how much fun this mech is..
