There has got to be a way to decrease the huge amount of afk/disconnect players and I think it's more than fair to take c-bills from the player afking/disconnecting. If youre not going to play don't join the match.

Not all those people are intentionally DCing for cbills. Stuff comes up, family, pets, wireless, ISP, computer crashes...life happens.

You do realize that the people who intentionally DC probably did more than 0 damage, while the people who crash or get yellow screened or black screened at the start of the match through no fault of their own will be taking the hits?

What about Scouts actually doing their job and scouting? The ones that might not have anything that shoots beyond Medium Laser range besides a TAG and might get taken out past that range because they got unlucky? I've peaked over a hill, WITH ECM, and been hit with a double Gauss shot because I didn't notice that mech over in the bushes 1klick away from me. In a Commando or lightly armored mech you can easily lose your main weapon/head/side torso/leg and be unable to do damage for the rest of the match.

less than 100 damage = you play the next game starting with 1 leg only so you cant rambo in again

And the person who is playing properly, yet is first focus target when the team stumbles into an ambush and doesn't have enough time to get enough shots to reach 100? The scout that doesn't quite reach 100, but survives and is on the winning team? The ponderous stock-engined assault that is struggling to find action because it's slower than the blob, or because the flow of battle keeps drifting just out of LOS? The newbie that just hasn't developed aim yet, and can't hit the center torso of an Awesome? :)

Sad thing is, I've set my throttle to 15KpH before and still got ahead of my team who was busy shooting the walls....

So make the punisment kick in on the second match [in a row/in an hour/in 24 hours] where this happens? I get the RL argument. I also get that if RL is getting in the way that much more often then you should be considerate to the 7 other people on the team and go address it instead of continuing to drop and hamstringing one side. And tack on an exp penalty as well so that it hits both of the commonly farmed items.

I've won plenty of games with zero damage. Capping FTW!

So... you want to make people that DC do some damage to friendlies before they DC... brilliant.

You're right. But that also means they would lose the money only those few times. Shouldn't be a problem, or should it? It hurts the intentional afkers MUCH more.

Disconnecting/Crashing before your Mech died used to mean you forfeited your earnings.

Then with the retooled economy, they re-implemented this for whatever reason.

I agree, it has to be that a DC takes a penalty of some sort. Hey, I have the bugs..we all get the bugs. We all have DC'd..it is what it is. If a penalty or even a flat 0 earned is implemented, it could appease the masses. The team as a whole is already without a pilot, why should they be penalized more

**edit - Thinking about it...screw it, just make it a 0 cbill/xp earned

The worst I've seen was a Dragon park himself at Kappa. Stay there, get let enemy move in, wasn't shooting at them or dodging. Then died.

I GUESS that's an example of ''life happened'', but in the heat of the action, I was a little annoyed, but not mad at the dude per se. Though since I've had AFKers and DCs (probably server-side related) happen on my team for the past SEVERAL GAMES, it kinda pissed me off a bit. Just a bit. That, or that's a ''less lazy version of AFKing'' than just spawn in a game and do nothing. Now it's ''runs to a cap and stays there until they get killed''. Smooth.

The thing is, I doubt anyone (other than PGI) really knows what percentage of DC and AFK are due to douchy players or game bugs at this point. When I had no HUD or yellow screen, I tried to let my team know in chat (I don't know if it worked since I couldn't see the chat window), but I wouldn't expect everyone to do that. Maybe they get one of those bugs and then just exit the match, or get up to get a beer.

I would be surprised if a lot of people are still AFK farming now that they'll only get 25K CB per match. Or maybe they are.

The point is that we don't know if people are doing intentionally or not, so why demand that a fix be put in to prevent intentional AFK/DC? You could implement it, and (if it's really due to bugs) it wouldn't reduce the amount of DC/AFK and would only hurt people who are unlucky in a match or have a real life issue pop up every now and then.

The only time I play is when my 18 month old son is asleep or napping. If he get's up at anypoint, I need to leave the game right then (I usually let me team know via chat). If I'm going to get a CB penalty when that happens, it will just mean that I play less because it's out of my control. I don't think less players is what this game needs right now.

Or, as happened to me, what about the Scouts that actually go out there and do their job only to get jumped by 2-3 Streak boating ECM douches piloting rubberbanding Lights (carrying ECM, btw, not to help their teammates but to abuse the current system). I had several games last night where I had 0 damage for no other reason than just that.

Btw, I'm not jaded :)
