As you can see from the above information CBills have absolutely no baring on the MC Cost of a Hero Mech, but rather they are completely influenced by tonnage. Whereas with regular Mechs, the actual CBill cost of the Mech influences it's MC value (roughly 2500 CBills per 1 MC). Therefore because each Mech's remaining MC cost (the value in parenthesis in the MC section) is different and varies hugely when you compare the Flame & Fang to the Ilya Muromets for example, the only reasonable conclusion that exists is that tonnage, as stated before, decides how expensive a Hero Mech is. This is easily recognizable as 750 MC per 10 tons, or 375 MC per 5 tons. I have gone ahead to create a list that defines these prices and should accurately predict what PGI plans to charge in the future:

Hero Mech Pricing:

Flea (20 Tons): 1500 MC
Commando (25 Tons): 1875 MC
Spider (30 Tons): 2250 MC
Raven/Jenner (35 Tons): 2625 MC
Cicada (40 Tons): 3000 MC
BlackJack (45 Tons): 3375 MC
Hunchback/Centurion/Trebuchet (50 Tons): 3750 MC
-- (55 Tons): 4125 MC
Dragon (60 Tons): 4500 MC
Catapult (65 Tons): 4875 MC
Cataphract (70 Tons): 5250 MC
Orion (75 Tons): 5625 MC
Awesome (80 Tons): 6000 MC
Stalker (85 Tons): 6375 MC
Highlander (90 Tons): 6750 MC
-- (95 Tons): 7125 MC
Atlas (100 Tons): 7500 MC

Projected Hero Mech Schedule:
(All dates after April have a stretch date of two weeks either before or after.)
March 5th - Hero Cicada / CORRECT
April 2nd - Hero JaegerMech / INCORRECT
April 30th - Hero Raven
May 28th - Hero Stalker
June 25th - Hero Trebuchet
July 23rd - Hero Orion
August 20th - Hero Spider
September 17th - Hero Highlander
October 15th - Hero Blackjack
November 12th - Hero Catapult
December 24th - Hero Flea

I think you are pretty close on the #'s I have a feeling the commando was gonna be in the range of 2200mc. I think it will end up being more of a tier system with a range for lights a 2nd range for medium / heavy and a 3rd tier for Assaults

This problem here is that Light, Medium and Heavy Mechs suddenly become inordinately expensive. It must follow a linear progression in expense or else it doesn't work.

Five start post. I hope it doesn't get buried in an hour.

My own guesstimates were pretty close to what Norris says above. I have enough MC left to buy the hero light, hero assault, and bling some more mechs out as I see fit.

the cbill cost you've used, is that the cost of taking a base model mech and then applying the equipment they come with, or have you just used the cbill cost of the nearest equivalent?

also, the MC to $ conversion rate - what MC "package" have you used to calculate this (as the higher $ packs get you more MC per $ so this could be where the discrepancy has kicked in as you are using a "worst case" conversion and PGI are using the "best case")... in fact, buying the $99.95 pack, I make PGI's costs per mech accurate

I infact bought my MC on the 20% weekend, so for me the cost of say the Ilya would be more like $17.50
I'm not going to buy one, just pointing out that you can make savings if you choose to

Of course I factored in the Mech Value cost, I even went ahead and compared each Hero Mech to a non-Hero variant of the same Mech to insure they weren't doing anything funny with the numbers. The Mech Value cost of a YLW is 776,612 CBills; which is exactly the same as any other Centurion. Same goes for the Flame/Fang. Same goes for the Ilya.

MC cost I factored in two ways, the CBill to MC conversion that PGI uses to determine how expensive (in MC) a Mech is. Which is 2500 CBills per 1 MC as I stated before, go ahead and check for yourself if you don't believe me. And the other way was me taking the base value of 3000 MC and dividing it by the cost. This factored out to 200 MC per dollar. This number is less relevant since the one PGI is using is the CBills to MC conversion. I just used the second method to give a more realistic dollar value since that's what people could expect to pay. Someone taking advantage of the Holiday bonus and/or buying a huge package is unrealistic, no offense.

pointing out that the dollar cost you've used (and the derision of the one stated by PGI) is a flexible component depending on how you define the value of an MC is unrealistic? ok then, lets go with that...

also, just to point out, on my founders pack I got 20,000MC plus a mech worth around maybe 7000MC according to your calcs (founders atlas so knock some off as it's not quite as good as a hero mech but it still has a 25% bonus) 5000MC worth of premium time, all for $60... so around 533MC per $
I'm sure if you tot up all the bonuses you go on yours it would be similar MC per $

even having purchased MC post founders pack, my MC per $ rate is 387MC per $

no offense, but when I calculate real dollar costs, the actual real dollar cost is the one that's important to me, not the one made up by someone else based on the worst case scenario... if someone told me that a hero mech I liked was going to cost $38 then I absolutely wouldn't buy one... if on the other hand I work out that at the actual rate that I've bought MC it was going to cost $19 then I might think about it if it had something I really wanted

So based off this, the cost of a Assault hero mech is goin to be equal to a little over half of the cost of a brand new AAA game that isn't on sale, dependin on which tier of MC you buy it from.

At the low end it should end up costin around 50 dollars.

Kinda makes you think, doesn't it.

it makes me think that people who think it's a good idea to pay for a $25 anything in $7 installments to end up costing them $41 need some help to put their pants on in the morning :)

Sorry your entire argument boils down to "I'm a Founder". Norris has correctly calculated the BASE cost of the mechs. Having spare MC lying around or getting MC on sale is irrelevant.

Hmm. If that's how much death's knell is going to be...ouch. I was hoping it would be <1250, or at least = to.

Nothing is set in stone, I have simply determined that tonnage appeared to be the only reasonable methodology they were using to come up with the price points for their Hero Mechs. It'd be nice if they were cheaper (in general), so I guess we'll have to wait and see if I am right.

All massively overpriced in my opinion. Buy two mechs and you've spent enough for a full priced brand new AAA game, and you have to buy the mech bays for them too, not to mention any of the other nickle and dime things youd do to them. Money grubbing at its finest, particularly distasteful considering they once claimed to be against this entire concept.

Though entirely within the spectrum of F2P. Compare this pricing to that of say World of Tanks or Star Trek Online and you'll see some similarities.
