I really like, or rather, want to like the Centurion. I just find the useless left arm to be too annoying. If only it had some kind of armor bonus to compensate.

You also missed Mechwarrior RPG, but seeing as that is essentially an extension of TT, most will probably go there...

4 Favourites:
  • Atlas AS7-RS
  • Cataphract CFT-3D
  • Hunchback HBK-4SP
  • Dragon DRG-1C
As to gamemodes, I'm comfortable with either, and although I do mostly drop solo, when the guys I play with turn up, I'm happy to drop as 8 man (I have mechs set up for both solo & team play depending on the situation).

I'm happy to see there are so many who picked "jack of all trades", which means those players will not go for a min-max build but rather for one that can handle multiple types of enemies and multiple ranges.

I chose "skirmisher" but actually I try to build my mechs to be as versatile as possible, with a good balance of speed, armor, firepower and heat. Because this is what canon (the books / the older games) tought us is the spirit of MW. :)

Ideally I would like to do something like this. However I am cheap frugal, so I share engines.

After you have submitted to the poll, please post:
  • your 4 favorite mechs (variants), within MWO.
  • your preferred game mode: Conquest/Assault and Pug/4man/8man
Commando (1B)
Centurion (A)
Spider (5D)
... er, Flea?

I don't have a preference for game mode, and I'd just as happily play in a PUG as with a buddy or two on TS3.

Started with MW2 and quickly went to TT, the TT and the novel have a ton of things that would greatly enhance the MW series.
The problem untill now were technical limitations in the more primitive games.

The TT is supposed to be a abstraction of what really is going on in the battlefield, I want to experience the stuff that happens.

None of those, I want actual missions like in the storylines.

The first Mech game I played was MW2, but the IP didn't really come alive for me until I got into Mechcommander and MW3.

I'm mostly a brawler/speedy flanker, but I'm capable in pretty much all play styles.
My top four MWO mechs so far are:

CN9-YLW (because of the loadout, not the hero bonus)
AWS-9M
CN9-AL
CN9-A

I've only ever pug'd and prefer Assault games over Conquest because other pugs tend to stick together more on Assault games.

Conquest in a 4 man team.

It's interesting to see as many MW2 and jacks-of-all-trade. And here I thought I was unique.

Without my lance I'm not too efficient though. Although, as long as I have just ONE of them with me, output goes up significantly.

Probably something to do with the fact that I shoot things better when I'm talking non-stop...

What's your lance, time you play/time zone? I am not much of a talker, but a great listener.

My first encounter of BT was with Crescent Hawk's inception on Commodore64. Later, I came across Mechwarrior on PC. Played through every Mechwarrior game after that. Was hooked on TT somewhere around 10 years ago.

I prefer sniping as a gaming style, but I tend to swap positions often, happily go cap base or rush in to finish off enemies. So certainly not camping, but I prefer over 300 meters between me and enemy.

My favorite mechs are Catapult K2 (UACs +large lasers build), Hunchback 4SP (with some large lasers), Awesome 8Q (PPCs), don't have 4th favorite actually.

I like all battle types equally, and play all team compositions. Would like to get more 8vs8, but we rarely have that many online nowdays..

My "Lance" consists of a friend I know outside of the game, and two or three others I've picked up after witnessing their feats of heroism or abstract humour in game. I'm at GMT +8, so we usually only play during weekends.

There's been talk amongst the few of them that they wanna go crazy this weekend, so I assume I'll be seeing some fireworks tomorrow.

That being said I'm being slapped around by people holding cold salmon today, and my UACs are being stubborn, too. Kinda reminds me of how much I miss having someone to annoy harp at all the time.

They're all around the world, really, have people in the States, Canada, Germany, and myself in Asia.

We grab who's around, lol.

MW3 is what got me into it (never had the expansion), but I was familiar with it before then, back in high school/junior high I had a buddy who loved the hell out of anything and everything BattleTech (books, tabletop, computer games, anything else), and at some point I think I rented MW2 for my Playstation, but MW3 is what really hooked me. Dropping in that Bushwacker (still to this day one of my favorite mechs)...ahh, good times.

As for playstyle, my mood changes, so sometimes I like to hang back and try to snipe or LRM at things, sometimes I like to brawl, sometimes I like to do some recon/harassment. I hit jack of all trades, though I'm not really fond of leading.

Anyway, I haven't tried every chassis yet on MWO but so far I'm enjoying my Hunchback 4SP, my Raven (original, not the non-ECM variants, I play it like it's meant to be played, EW/recon, one of the few mechs designed purely as such from the start, plus I love how it looks), and...I have tried out the Centurion (the trial one) and had some fun with that. Speed and a shotgun! Though I probably would drop that for an AC10 if I had the choice.

Prolly will go after that or a Cataphract next (friend has one and it looks so fun!). What am I looking forward to? Bushwacker, even though I know it's likely we'll never see it ingame. But I can still hope.

Oh and game mode...anything. If I get to stomp around in a giant robot, I'm there.

Crescent Hawk's Revenge for me... All those years ago, I played the theme tune as a music class project, brings back memories!

Preferred game mode is obviously Conquest.

Mechs (in-game, Mauler is otherwise my favourite):

1. Ilya
2. Spider (any)
3. Hunchback 4SP
4. Awesome 8R
