JR7-F, my first mech, my first love. Laser Jenner, wee!
AS7-D-DC, not for the ecm, for it's brawling capability, plus this will be my command mech, when we get more command options
CN9-D, fast centurion = fun brawler!
I only get to pick four? I guess the last would be my:
RVN-3L, no I don't run a no-talent streak *****. I run it with ECM, tag, LRM10 and ER LL. Designed to cover and support ranged mechs. It's fun and challenging to play.

I don't necessarily feel that camping is bad. It's called superior positioning. An especially useful tactic in conquest-like modes. However, CoD came around and all of sudden, campers were bad.

Catapult c1 LRM Supporter
Awsome 8Q 3 PPC long/mid supporter
Yenlo close brawler
I play with up to 3 friends, so we drop in 2-4 man style
Modes: Conquest/Assault
so what game catched me to bt? All of them, played all. From tt, over cresent, mw 1-4, rpg (pan&paper), mechcommander, megamek, and so on...everything. And still love bt and hope if they reach a strong playerbase, and the game financ itself, we get a core mode for us hardcore bt player, so we can go merc out there, take contracts and fight in 10sec reload rounds for big guns and with singlearmor as in the novels over the inner sphere...damn i would love it. Thats what noone did till now...sigh...

As for this game, my favorite mechs are Catapults, cataphracs, hunchbacks, and centurions. I tend to prefer assault and almost only play with 4 man groups.

In no particular order.
Raven 3L: Recon/support platform, excellent spotter for LRMs or configured as a scout hunter with streaks.
280XL
Endosteel
Ferro fibrous
10 DHS
2 med laser
2 SRM 4 (or 2 SSRM2)
TAG
BAP
ECM
AMS
1 ton SRM ammo (or 2 tons SSRM ammo)
1 ton AMS ammo
Catapult K2: Excellent mid range sniper/brawler support, great counter for SRM cat A1s.
300XL
20 DHS
4 Large Lasers
Dragon 1C: Cavalry mech or shoot and scoot sniper
350XL
Endo Steel
14 DHS
ER PPC
LRM 10
3 Med Lasers
2 tons LRM ammo
Atlas AS7D-DC: My command mech of choice when I am drop command.Decent speed, mixed range capability and decent at killing light mechs due to ECM and streaks.
350 std engine
Endosteel
14 DHS
2 large lasers
AC 20
3 SSRM2
ECM
3 tons ac ammo
3 tons streak ammo
My preferance for match type is based on my current playing choice. If I am pugging I will not do a conquest.I found the slight variable of needing to capture multiple points is to difficult for most pug groups. They just death match anyhow so why not just play assault.
I PuG when I want a quick couple of matches or if I feel I need to get some PuG perspective.I have a genuine intrest in MWo being successful and as a beta player I feel I am better off playing in all aspects be it solo 4 man or 8 v 8.
Always playing PuG or always playing premades insulates you from the larger picture so I recomend avoiding it.
That being said I would say 4 man groups are my more common play style with around 30% solo 60% 4 man 10% 8 v 8 give or take 5% to or from any depending on the day.

I regularly get majorly nostalgic for MechCommander, my first experience. It was such a wonderful game. I recently got it running on my PC and play it when I can; it holds up great, despite faux 3D. Had brilliant mission design; my personal hope for MWO is that one day we get complex industrialized scenarios with multiple objectives and constraints. Balance was awful, but as we all know, that applied pretty well to more or less every other MechWarrior game too (for all the complaints, MWO is the best of the bunch in this area.) And the sense of the game interface itself as a part of the game made it the most immersive strategy game I've ever played.
Oh, and:
CN9-A
CN9-D
CN9-YLW
TBT-7M
Game mode: Conquest. But I wish there were small emplaced defenses that you could disable by direct weapons fire (and kill it) or by hitting a power supply (of which there are 3, all hardened, so it would defend the point once captured.)

Cataphract 3D
Cataphract 4X
Spider 5D
Atlas AS7-D(F)
I would definately call myself a brawler, but I still enjoy scouting and using hit-and-run tactics in my Spider. I certainly do the best in my Atlas with my AC-20, dual PPCs for longer range and SRM's for those pesky lights. I call myself a heavy pilot, even though I uasually do better in an Assualt. My 4X I've loaded dual AC-10s (I'm better with powerful, slower recharge weapons. The lengthier recycle time urges me to make each shot count) plus a medium laser and SRM4 to fill the gaps. My 3D is more of a mid-range fighter, currently sporting 2 ERLL, machine gun and 2 ML.
