For Those Who Play Less Than Before?

No real objective except grind cash or start another mech chassis to grind for xp.
Most of my friends aren't playing either so it's playing on PUG's mainly. Pre mades do hammer PUG's a fair bit.

Holidays and general RL-busyness have contributed, but the game's "fun level' dropped drastically for me with ECM's introduction.

1. ECM
2. Lights/Netcode
3. I mastered my Centurions, and I don't know which mech to do next.
4. Lack of good modules to give me something to continue working on for my Centurions.
5. Paint Jobs only costing MC thus not giving me something to strive towards for C-Bills.
6. Game types. I really feel like this game would benefit from scenario style maps. Attack/Defend, Escorts, etc.
7. Maps are too small, and create one style of fighting.
It's not any one thing. But when you combine them all, it leads me to playing 2 or 3 games then finding something else to do.

I still play quite a bit, but getting annoyed little by little of the netcode and shooting lag on the ballistics and their wonky convergence issues. Other than that, no other game has caught my attention since I got in to MWO. Well, maybe Aliens:Colonial Marines and GTA V this spring..

Lack of maps.
Lack of mechs.
Lack of progress.
Strange implementation of BT concepts/balance.
Deathmatch gets boring.
Will play more in the future, but for now, this has grown very stale.

1. Hit detection / Lag issues. I have a great connection myself, so this is doubly frustrating. Why should I play a game where roughly half my "hits" don't hit?
2. Egregious balance issues. ECM in particular is absurdly overpowered, but a lot of other weapons are seriously unbalanced. This wouldn't be that important, but combining this with an absurdly lethargic development cycle makes it a major issue.
3. Little faith in PGI. They have utterly failed in customer communications and I believe a lot of their decisions regarding direction and purpose have been very poor. The cash grabs that have occurred over the last two months have been particularly bothersome. Aside from that, however, without any sort of concrete communications, plans, or timelines, why should I invest anything more in this game? Through their actions, PGI themselves have barely manifested any kind of faith in their own product, so why should I have any at all?
4. Heat system is fubar. This kind of goes back to PGI's questionable balance decisions, but any game which takes a balanced system and drastically changes only 2 of the 3 major balancing restrictions is going to have problems. I like using multiple weapon types, but energy weapons absolutely get the shaft on this one.
5. Horrible community. It's ok to disagree on something, but every time I see someone voicing a valid viewpoint, they (or I) get swamped with forum jackasses that just want to tear them down and have absolutely nothing constructive to add. "QQ moar" is never a good response...
I've spent a lot of my professional life analyzing software projects and doing postmortems. Any two or three of these would probably kill most projects, but the real problem is #3 from a management perspective. PGI really needs to examine the image it's projecting and take a good long look at the way they interface with the community.
But these are just my opinions, take them for what they are.

1. Netcode makes fighting feel more like a game of chance than of skills. I realize that 'lag aiming' some mitigates this issue, but when it's coupled with frequent FPS issues (even though my system should be able to easily handle the game) it's extremely frustrating.
2. There's nothing to do. I've unlocked most of the mechs I want to unlock. The game is a perpetual grind in it's current state, but grinding only works when there's something to work towards.
3. There's no tactical depth beyond 'pick target, everyone on team fire on target until it stops moving'. The maps, due to their small sizes, basically break down into 2 options per map: go left or go right? There's a few 'alternate' paths, but if you look at the heat-maps charting player movement, you'll find that the best paths have been discovered and exploited ad infinitum.
4. There's no real "information warfare" in the sense that forces are engaged in actively gaining and denying the enemy information (again due to the small map size). Yes we have ECM, but ECM isn't information warfare - it's information denial and it's only useful to negate homing weapons (LRMs and SSRMs). Using ECM to hide forces and sneak up on the enemy is extremely difficult (I don't think it should be easy, but currently it's nigh-impossible) and pointless. You essentially get one free shot if you manage to surprise your enemy before they figure out where you are.

Still feels like we are playing the same four maps over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over and.. over again.
I'm sure the new Apline and desert map will be great, but holy cow, I feel like a crack addict with no crack.

2) not being able to compete with lights.
3) bad matchmaking
The matchmaking should come soon, so I'm not too worried about that. Netcode-related issues are the only major things killing my motivation right now.

1. Real life work has gotten in the way.
2. Merc corp buddies aren't as active as they once were.
3. Game balance atm isn't suited for solo play. Though I still play solo from time to time, it just isn't as much.
I definitely intend to still play for a long time. Probably until they shut down the servers.
