Hi all

There have been various threads discussing different high-end card options, and some where people were discussing multi-monitor frame rates. That being said, I thought I would ask in a separate post.

I'm currently running a 6870 with Eyefinity and a screen res of 5040 x 1050 on medium detail with no AA and getting a frame rate of 20-30 FPS.

I'm considering a 7970 with the same monitors, and hoping to up the detail to high or very high with AA and get somewhere in the region of 30 FPS.

Here is a graphical representation of what's been going on. Thoughts on likely results are welcome:

Well I get around the 40 fps mark with a single 7970 running 2560*1600 resolution with very high settings, which equals just over 4 million pixels. I would guess a single 7970 would do around the 30 fps mark at 5040*1050 with atleast all high settings, which equals just under 5.3 million pixels

Is that 27" or 30" or something else?

Same as Barbaric, mid 40s everything maxed . . only with a 7950 driving 2560 x 1440 27". I actually have 2 7950 in Xfire, but Xfire has no effect on FPS. I get 20-30 FPS at 6048 x 1080 with one 7950, and the exact same FPS with two.

7970 Should have no issue at all running at 30FPS at that resolution, a GTX 670 can do it, and the 7970 should be more powerful

My 7970 GHz Edition has no problems running 30 FPS in 5760x1080 on high. That's even a bit more then you want to achieve in the resolution part.

Just incase your on a budget my 7770 runs the game 35-40 fps in 1600x1200 maxed detail...

Not bad for £98.

Just a note to close the loop. Results of buying a 7970 at 5040 x 1050 with highest detail settings are 30-40 FPS on average, occasionally dipping below 20 (When there are a lot of particle effects from the look of it).

S!

At least for me the latest patch brought some extra FPS on my 7970HD GHz Edition combined with Catalyst 13.2 Beta 4, no CAP installed.

Still on 13.1 here, but yes there is some nice FPS boost as far as I was able to observe it.

If you're running medium on 1680x1050 with your 6870 and only get 20-30 fps you're cpu limited.

in that case a 7970 wont do a damn thing for performance.
