And again on ECM - if you wrote a well-written, well laid out post with a suggestion on the suggestion forums, the designers have seen it. We can't just knee-jerk change things though. We play the same game you do, often IN the same games you do, so we've both heard, and seen with our own eyes, what you're talking about. And although my mighty Cicada fears no ECM, I understand that every Mech is different, and has different requirements.

So to sum up - we're on it.

though as an aside, props to Garth and Russ for being a bit more active on the boards... speaking in very general terms about where things are going is a positive thing and should be encouraged

some people will hold you to what you say to the letter, but for a lot of us, just getting an rough update on where things are headed is a great thing

It's always reassuring to hear that they're "on it", but I hope they take their anti-knee-jerk stance seriously. ECM only needs minor tweaks. Once the netcode is fixed, the ECM speed-mechs won't be nearly as scary.

If garth is repeating some of the sentiments of the devs then I'll take those words with only a grain or two of salt. If he's speaking from personal experience? then I'm going to take it with a entire salt shaker's worth.

This is the same guy who claimed non engine DHS were 1.4 because he claimed to be able to core an atlas in the back with a jenner in 3 seconds.

I'd be interested to see what five mechs are beating the raven, specifically up until the spider release. Why not just tell us the most popular mechs weekly. That would make a nice dev post in and of itself. I really don't understand the continuous veil over things like that.

I suppose you could see what mechs you were playing against and collate it from your own experiences. At the end of the day its irrelevant what the top 5 appearing mechs are if they're not in the matches you are playing (or aren't on the team you're playing against).

Certainly my experience that ravens aren't as prolific as they were. Same with stalkers.

There is no way the raven chassis was out of the top five last week.

I played a few matches last night, only saw one or two spiders. I've yet to swat one, though. They just derp around reaaaaally quickly.

The Top 5 chassis I've seen are:

Atlas DDC
Cat K2
Cat A1
Raven 3L
Myself

I saw more commandos and gimped ravens. The theory, and it's a good one, is that all the 3L ravens already got their XP skills maxed, so people are using spiderfest 2013 to grind easy kills for bad mechs.

Considering how my Ilya has close to 90k EXP I'm not exactly too surprised if people DO try the spider out just for fun. I mean it's not like as if I have any OTHER options.

I've mastered the Atlas, Dragon, AND Cataphract series.

What else would you have me do, run around in a Spider and then jumpjet off a cliff, while firing my MLasers at targets halfway across the map?

Yeah lots of cent. or catap are out there too the last days.

As for me i didnt touch my 3L for weeks by now... more likely the DDC and my stalker.

Kind of like Manchester City releasing their Opta data for the 11/12 season. Would be cool to be able to dig through all the data for something this complicated. KDRs of specific builds in the hands of specific players in specific circumstances versus other builds. Amounts of damage done by specific weapons, etc., etc.

Exactly.

I have pretty much every single mech I like mastered. Even bought a terrible spider to herpaderp in, while reciting the battletech cartoon.

Spiderfest 2013 is a great success, and will continue until the 2x XP weekend ends.
